    Post Thoughts on Underwater Combat

Greetings, champions of Tyria! How are ya?

So, it's been quite a while since GW2 first launched. One feature that got me pumped up when I first played the game was the idea that the underwater combat was different.

Since then, my opinion has changed. I think that the uw combat is good, but flawed in some ways.

What do you think about it?

    See you soon!

In current state it's awful. But it has potential.

Hate it with a passion. Whilst exploring the underwater caves in Tangled Depths with my guildies I got a fresh dosage of hatred and sincerely hope that there are no more underwater segments in the expansion.

It's probably the best underwater combat of any MMO I've played.

That being said, it's not fantastic. They need to spend some time opening up skill selections (i.e. making the rest of your skills usable underwater). You also need to be able to use one button to descend (like your jump can be used to ascend) instead of changing your facing to actively swim down, which messes with your skill targeting.

I love it, find it really amazing.

And outside it being completly unbalanced (at least last time I played ~1 years ago) the best underwater combat I've seen in a MMO. I really never understood the hate in GW2, outside the "I hate 3 dimensional fights". Wished they were a lot more underwater content (but again with some class balance).

I agree with the two above, (as I post), best underwater in an MMO so far (not like I've played a lot of underwater), smooth enough interactions, not as big an issue with facing as other stuff. They could have used more underwater helms/suits, maybe a diving outfit, but at this point underwater has been mostly killed going forward I think.

But, it's not fun, especially against later enemies with CC and stuff (krait and risen). Abilities seem almost random, though I love undead shrimp...

So yeah, I like underwater in GW2 as long as it's more of a MOOD combat/ exploration rather than some challenge/ objective thing.

I love the concept, but it definitely needs more work to get me to play around underwater more.

    I also concur.

Concept is sound, but it would need some work to be what I call great. Seems to me for any classes with spear available, it's by far the better option in most cases. The harpoon guns and tridents do pitiful damage in comparison. Except for on ele, where trident is the only weapon (and does good damage).
