#2, we need to agree that even if we found a way to circumvent this, there's so many fallback surveillance utensils we're just not going to keep our privacy.

So the question really is #3, what's going to happen going forwards and how do we make sure it will all be okay?
Buy your own hardware components and build your own computers, use only open-source OS and software (any linux distro for general use, Tails if you're really locking yourself up in a basement), use encryption for everything, only access the Internet through encypted tunneled connections (a VPN or TOR), start using darkwebs more (like the TOR network or Freenet; the more normal people use it actively, the more it will become a viable alternative to the www for normal things also)... When using the www, avoid the large tracking companies (no Facebook or Google, obviously) and use blocker addons to stop trackers. Use different search engines.

Stay off the internet altogether if you want to be super safe. Don't buy equipment that has connections to the internet unless you really need it. Use smartphones with removable batteries (to be able to completely go off the grid if you want to).

...Or alternatively, don't do anything that makes you require any or all of the paranoid privacy measures mentioned above.

Use electrical tape, duct tape is bad for your electronics. You'll be fighting forever if you want to use the camera again.

Nothing wrong with cameras everywhere, unless you have a lot to hide or you're overly paranoid. It's being done intentionally as well but for good reasons like preventing crime and corruption

So is yours. but thats beside the point.

the point you are trying to make and fail with is that your camera on a laptop is hardware which is connected to your system so you can indeed uninstall the drivers but that will not really help.
You can however remove the device by uninstalling the device and not the drivers. or just disable it in the config screen.

Issue solved. though i doubt that the camera on a laptop is used to spy on you.

There was this disabled perv who found a way to take over people's laptops and turn the camera on. He'd watch them through their laptop cameras for hours at a time hoping to get a flash of a boob or someone undressing. I remember they found him guilty of something and they put him in jail.

And year if you're in public somewhere and you pick your nose, that's on video now.

I don't like all the cameras in public places these days, to me it's far more intrusive surveillance than what the NSA did with our phones, especially since these videos are in the hands of private individuals.

Surveillance footage can and is used for whatever purpose those who have it wish to.

The "you have nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide" is a classic authoritarian line used to justify tyranny.

It is a little depressing most people just seem to roll over and accept a level of surveillance that is excessive even when compared to Orwell's dystopia.

Yet everyone screams murder and pain when no camera`s or surveillance is present and somethings happens.
    Double standards much?

No. I don't recall a single instance of any one ever doing that.

The angst is palpable in the OP.

Best part is where he equates authoritarianism with socialism.

    Funny.

If you feel the need to quote me at least quote the whole sentence. you are pushing things out of context now.

No they don't. Don't know what context you are on about.

I read that the human Body can react at rather many Input signals per second, i read it at a page about fluorescend lamps that flicker a lot and that is very bad for health.

When you connect this with a face reading Software you can make wonderful things with humans sitting in front of a camera for example at a Laptop or Handy and it gets even better when there is a microphone around ...

It could lead to some mind reading similar squeezing out of your thoughts or reaction scheme.
Worst Szenario is brain washing where you actively get your brain trained by faint signals or sounds and simultaniously adapting over the optical Feedback to the Software.

Cant say I am concerned about a product since I can buy it or refuse to or even ruin the lens if I would refuse to have it but cant find a product without it.
CCTV cameras in public places getting out of hand is what I worry about. I really don't want a UK scenario in Sweden in the future.
But soon after Mr Xi secured a third term, Apple released a new version of the feature in China, limiting its scope. Now Chinese users of iPhones and other Apple devices are restricted to a 10-minute window when receiving files from people who are not listed as a contact. After 10 minutes, users can only receive files from contacts.
Apple did not explain why the update was first introduced in China, but over the years, the tech giant has been criticised for appeasing Beijing.

OP reeks of jet fuel and steel beams.

Slap some duct tape on, boom, problem solved. Your privacy along with your collection of Victorian Era Dolls you furiously masturbate to is now "safe".

So, hypothetically, if I cam and put 30 odd surveillance cameras in your house so I could see everything your doing all the time you'd be okay with that?

You've got nothing to hide right?
