I don't know about you guys, but i've been counting down the days to Blizzcon again! It's like early Christmas but instead of sitting next to a tree, i'll be sitting next to my monitor hoping for some amazing presents. Blizzcon 2015 will be hosted in Anaheim on 6th and 7th of November. It's an annual convention where Blizzard presents their latest information on their IP's. So.... What news can we expect this year?
Warcraft
Blizzard already announced the brand new expansion Legion on August 6th during Gamescom. So we obviously know a new expansion is on the horizon. This blizzcon will most likely contain information about the following:
- Brand new Hero Class Demon Hunter
- New Features like Artifacts and a brand-new PvP system
- More information on Class-specific Order Halls and followers
- The Broken Isles
- Storyline
- A date for the release of the Alpha/Beta plus an indication of the release
Besides all of that, we will definitely see the full trailer for the upcoming movie Warcraft. You can see the teaser trailer here. Oh and before i forget, Blizzard has stated in an interview to IGN that they may revisit the Warcraft franchise once the Starcraft 2 story has been completed.
"It’s very rewarding for us to hear that there’s demand out there for more RTS content in the Warcraft universe so once we’re done with Void I think we’ll get together as a team and talk about what would inspire us to work on next. There’s no question, though, that we’ll consider Warcraft, StarCraft, or even new ideas. Anything is possible."
And with Blizzard posting a new position recently (hiring software engineers to fix up older games). There is a big chance we will see announcements of HD released of Warcraft!
Starcraft
With the release of the newest expansion set three days after Blizzcon (November 10th) We know most of the details and if you have a close look at the Blizzcon Schedule there is only a panel that will discuss the future of Starcraft 2, and that will mostly likely consist of patches.
Hearthstone
With Hearthstone its always a surprise what we can expect, however with the most recent expansion release, it's a bit silly to expect another expansion announcement. Blizzard likes to surprise us tho, remember last Blizzcon? Where they announced the Gnomes expansion pretty quickly after the release of Naxxramas. We can most likely expect new card announcements and possible changes plus a small glimpse into the future.
Heroes of the Storm
So what can we expect for our beloved game Heroes of the Storm? Well according to a Czech fansite who allegedly got an e-mail from the Blizzard team:
- Two new maps
- Four new heroes
- Additional features and improvements made to the game
- Possibly the announcement of the first season
- Hero Changes
What does that mean? Well with the recent release of the Eternal Conflict patch/expansion we can expect that Blizzard will be focusing on another francise then Diablo. I've got a feeling we will see a good amount of Warcraft heroes. Especially with the recent released Heroes like Artanis, Medic, Butcher, Monk. Yes yes, i know they added Rexxar recently. But so far there have been more Starcraft/Diablo releases then Warcraft. So the question is... What sort of maps/heroes do you expect to be announced?
Overwatch
With the recent release of the Closed Beta for Overwatch, we can expect a decent amount of information for Overwatch. Containing new maps/heroes/features. HOWEVER with only two blocks of Overwatch on the schedule. One purely consisting of Lore. we can expect only so much information... Please end the first block with an announcement of more beta invites tho! Oh and before i forget, they might announce Overwatch for consoles, this thanks to a datamine found by Overpwn.
Diablo
It's been a while since we've seen an expansion announcement, a year and a half ago to be exact. And with only one block reserved at Blizzcon. There is a small chance we will see this new announcement. We will however have a look at new zones, armor sets, legendary items, features, seasons and more. However, with a recent career request by Blizzard. There is a chance that they are working on a new expansion behind closed curtains.
So all in all, there will be more then enough information to discuss about after Blizzcon. With Blizzard adding more and more ip's to their franchise, I'm starting to think two days of Blizzcon should soon be changed to a long weekend of Blizzcon extravaganza. (Yes please!)
