Popular media, Reality TV, the news.

I firmly believe these are all manufactured to make people dumber.

They are like 'junk food' for the brain, and abuse will rot your mind into pudding.

Specifically, and especially the E! network.

"The Soup" with Joel McHale is pretty funny though.

Can be fun to just sit down in front of the tv and watch it without having to think much

The masses haven't quite gotten used to the idea of the internet yet. The TV is there to keep people satisfied and content with their lives rather than expanding and growing as a person, the internet is an easy way to achieve the latter but most people don't use it very well or at all.

I still watch drama TV and some comedies but I haven't watched reality TV (traditional stigmatised reality TV) in over 10 years, I don't pay much attention to news channels/shows anymore. Popular media is too broad, games are popular, its the highest grossing industry in the world at the moment, even further ahead than TV or movies.

Luckily, as time goes on, less attention will be paid towards TV and shifting more towards the internet.

I don't know what rock you live under but here in the states pretty much everybody under the age of 70 is on the internet.

Internet is basically TV on steroids. It's got massive potential for being a confirmation bias/echo chamber loop. This is worsened by the algorithms google uses to make suggestions to people. Most people don't use it as well as they could (learning all sorts of things about science, literature, history, and being confronted with opposing views), and that's because their mind functions to look for things which agree with them or don't threaten their worldview.

Reality TV can easily manipulate many viewers into thinking it's real only because they are using their real name. All these reality shows you see on TV still has a person directing them behind the camera; no matter how specific or broad, even if it's just giving them a goal (what they should want/need) or giving them a scenario/action to achieve.

Media News can be quite deceptive or biased, varying on the channel or source of the news. If anything, the news is just depressing for the most part.

It's definitely a good idea to be open-minded when viewing either of these.

Or... people make themselves dumber by looking at it.
But no, it's obviously not their own fault. Someone else Always is Always to blame. Right?

The victim role is soooo much better.

Yes they are but people also seem to enjoy it to the point of addiction. There are no stops for the ride we're all on, OP. At least the carriage I'm in isn't that bad for now.
I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death to defend your right to say it.

Its getting worse and worse. Complete idiots getting a stage just so people can feel better watching it going "oh, atleast were not like THOSE people". Its quite saddening.
