If player's wanted to socialise they would find a way, this happens in regards to everything, adding whatever tools you think of probably won't help.
What more do you need then to find a guild, talk to the members on teamspeak or whatever voice program they use instead of being an introvert and making some friends? That's all you need to do, what else do you need honestly. If you can't do that then whatever dumb 'tool' they put in the game isn't going to help you.

social tools wut? if u want to communicate u can sub drop is because of lack of content outside raids ... if i want a damn social game where i HAVE to communicate with strangers i go play second life :>
Even if I had a social group in WoD, like I did in tbc, wrath, cata, mop, I'd still unsub (I did unsub). IMO progression is over as soon as the next expansion is announced, I'm not all about wasting my time on achievements, or once a week farming for my 250th mount - it's a waste of time and money, also you suffer from extreme burnout without a break, or at least I do.
I think other games have thinks like allowing you to be in multiple guilds at once. That could help to some degree.
WoW has a guild finder tool atm, it's complete crap, if that could be properly re-made it could be great.
Imagine if you could fill out a small questionaire like this and the game would suggest you some guilds. "what diffuclty do you want to raid?" "are you willing to server transfer" "are you willing to faction transfer" "do you like pvp" etc. Ideally the game would suggest guilds based on recent activity of that guild and not what they list themselves as to prevent abuse.
Imagine if people looking to cap conquest points didn't have to spam trade, but could use a group-finder esque system.
THe game could put in a "recently played with these guys" system to encourage you to make friends. maybe with a "i liked this guy" button or w/e.
The game could put in a "i want to do heroics/LFR/arena/common activities" window that would then be shown to your friends and recently played with people as suggested activities. ie "3 of your friends are interested in doing heroic dungeons, would you like to start a group?" or w/e,
tons of ideas you could come up with. anything that lets you meet the same people again is a plus.

What do you want them to do? Force peolpe to talk to each other?
If you want a social game it's up to you to socialize. You as an extrovert shouldn't have a single problem with that.
There are a 101 ways to be social in WoW. The reason people are not using them is because they don't want to interact with random people online.
Stop blaming the game for basic human psychology.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death
Those are some good ideas and be nice if some implemented.
But the OP didn't mention or come up with any just complained.
Finally and most importantly they could add every bell and whistle but if people choose not to talk their is nothing they can do.
Didn't they make the group finder better this expansion.
What happened a lot of the player base miss used it and they had to change loot drops.
If the players don't at least try and only make things worse their is nothing they can do.
Wrong place to voice any criticism. MMO-C is filled only with blizzard drones that defend any crap that happens to wow.
As for the topic at hand. The old social element of wow is gone forever thanks to the lfr/lfd/xrealm crap. Before those cancers people actually had talk to each other, communicate, behave nice because you knew you had a high chance of running into that person later on. With the lfr/lfd/xrealm you can see the results yourself.
WoW has guilds and plenty of chat channels and forces you to group up and communicate for the top end content. If that still doesn't make the game social enough then the problem lies with you or the community you are in.
This is a Video Game... that's a virtual world... separate from the Real Life world... where you can create your own hero and live out your fantasy and "restart" your life in any way/shape/form you wish....
Son, complaining about WoW being tailored for Introverts is complaining that Blizzard is directly hitting an MMORPG's target audience.
You want "social"? Go play a damn FPS team shooter. Look how wonderful that social activity is, and you want to bring that to WoW!?
Systems panel is today.
FFXIV - Maduin (Dynamis DC)
History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people - Martin Luther King, Jr.
Only thing I wonder is how you managed to not see that for the past 7 years, which is about how long this trend had been notable by now.
And frankly it's not because there are no tools but because there are so many tools that are essentially working around social engagement. Everything that allows you to play an MMO single player style. If you want that gone you simply need to remove all those convenient little gadgets, but once you try that there'll be even less people left to play with... that is what we call a dilemma.
Your rights as a consumer begin and end at the point where you choose not to consume, and not where you yourself influence the consumed goods.
Translation: if you don't like a game don't play it.
I think that having friends keeps many people playing for longer, i have seen lots of "The game sucks, but my friends/guildies keep me playing"-posts the past year, but the fundamental problem (not really having fun anymore) is still there, even with friends.
You can't really force people to be social, you can force them to group up (Though that might drive people who prefer playing solo away), but you can't force people to play nice, that has to come from the players, they just don't seem that interested, and that is something Blizz can't really fix, on the other hand, Blizz CAN fix the "Not enough to do"-problem, so they're focusing on that, nothing wrong with that IMO.
