Considering all airline and rail shipping would have to halt for that 24 hours I'd agree with this. Also as all refrigerated train cars are controlled via a satellite to maintain it's shipping temperature you'd have a massive amount of food possibly spoiling.

for a day? not much. some companies would lose some money, news would have a field day overreacting, but overall not a whole lot.

stretch that out into weeks or months and it's a whole different story. companies would lose millions, people would lose jobs, i would guess banks would have some serious issues with account information, etc. probably alot of issues I can't think of as well

If the net crashed for a day? Dk's couldn't use maces, girls don't play wow, Chuck Norris something, thunderfury, anal spam, and turning 360 degree's and walking away from an Xbox.

GDP of several nations would double for a day.

To me personally, not much. A lot of people would probably get hurt and the economy would get a bit fucked though.

But 24 hours wouldn't be enough for people to go all 90's again.

Heh - I was just thinking if I called my ISP (Shaw) and told them the internet was down and I wanted one free day - they'd respond:

ISP: "Do you have a modem?", "Have you tried restarting your modem?"
Me: "No you don't understand, turn on the TV - the internet - all over the world - is down."
ISP: "You need to restart your modem, leave it unplugged for sixty seconds before plugging it in, and if it's still not working call us back" *click*

    i smell fearmongering.
    Easy.

Approximately 200,000 people die every day.

At least a few of those would be saved by the people around them searching emergency medical information whilst waiting for an ambulance or other similar situations.

Mouth to mouth, resuscitation, recovery position, etc People performing this properly due to on scene internet access will save lives of otherwise dead people.

That's only when WoW is down but the forums are still working.

I'm pretty sure they (we) would rend our clothes and cry bloody murder, but then all would be well (and forgotten) when we woke up the next day =)

People die. It's a natural process. Relax.

We were doing alright without the internet, more kids born and surviving than people dyeing every day.

I would say some dead. But mostly a lot of anxiety attacks. Phone withdrawals. More births next July.

Good thinkg that Steam works even without an active internet connection. I would miss the news, but that's kinda it.
