Why our artifact skins need large variety.

Out of all the classes, Warrior is the only one whose artifacts are all of the same weapon type: swords. Every single other class has in the very least two types of weapons. Whether it be staff and sword like the mage, or sword and dagger with the rogue. Warrior is the only one who is only sword sword and more sword.

As a class, Warrior has the largest history with using lots of weapons. They are able to use more weapons than any other class. Back from vanilla to wotlk, this meant they had to skill up more weapons than anyone. They had talents that would do different things depending on the weapon. Lore wise warriors use a large variety of weapons from the axes of the orcs, to the swords of the humans, even the fists when it came to Darious Crowley of the Worgen. Warriors use weapons.

Thats why its such a travesty that Warriors have been regulated to sword only. Blizzard says the artifacts reflect class identity. Should Warrior just be renamed "Sword master"?

Thats why I think that the artifact skins need a great deal of variety. Keep the default swords. But, unlike the other classes, have the various unlockable skins change what weapon type the weapon is. Have one of the arms models be a polearm, one of the fury ones be a pair of axes. Anything to give us variety. It'll have an effect in game too, as warriors will be going around with the largest variety in their weapon usage through legion, which is at it should be: warriors are the class of weapons. They have a mastery over them that others do not.

I honestly always thought they were going to go all out on warriors and wow us by showing off the weapon specialisation trait through giving us multiple skins (I mean its basically just transmog, no stats are changing). Unfortunately they went the total opposite direction.

As they are only skins though I don't see why they couldn't change this at a later date aside from the fact they are pushing the lore factor. Then there would be the hailstorm of whining from other classes who would no doubt twist it to say they are forced to play warrior.

I'll be honest, the warrior artifacts are all kinda "meh" and unknown, sure, the Arms-Sword once belonged to King Thoradin, an ancient human king, but it's a bit of a stretch honestly.

Arms need a god damn Axe. How do they not realise Axe + Whirlwind = Win.

You seem to be among the very few who likes all of them. Axes can be pretty nice, though really few maces look good, that is true.

They already posted yesterday on twitter that they have skins of other types and to wait. They jyst weren't shown at Blizzcon or their site yet.

I've seen this idea float around a lot, I think I even mentioned it once. I fully agree that the arms artifact should have it's different variations as awesome weapons of other types like an axe, a polearm etc. Completely agree with you, and it makes even more sense considering we're weapon masters. Good idea, should post something like this on the official forums on blizzards thing so they can maybe see it. It's a good idea, I'd be there to back it up. (This goes for the fury weapons too, agree with that as well).

Are you sure? So we have skins of other types for arms/fury? I seriously hope so, it actually makes sense considering they're going for class fantasy, weapon masters is what warriors are.

I think we'll have to wait and see for the skins, but yes I'm a little underwhelmed by the warriors artifacts. I know this is subjective and in my opinion, they do fit the warrior archetype. I just think it would've been possible to make them more heroic and still keep the warrior feeling.

Not for the most part of WoW, but I guess Fury had to learn the superior move at some point.

does anyone actually think that there wont be literally hundreds of skins per class?

i mean, cmon, the one thing blizz cares about is art

Okay, went to warcraftdevs twitter, and they actually did mention that they have a different variant we might really like (thats not a sword). I can't get the picture on here, but I'll quote them and if you need to confirm, go to warcraftdevs twitter. "We went with swords for wider appeal, but there's a variant we haven't shown yet that you might like." Take what you want from that post, but, to me, it sounds like they have something up their sleeve.

They posted this on their twitter on November 9th, 2015.

I remember all the drama pre presentation, here on mmo-c.
Axes are to much orc! Swords are to much human! Etc.
Now that it has been revealed that it is sword(s) all complain it is to boring (and I agree).
I would have loved if it was different weapons for each spec (axe for arms, sword protection, maces for fury - something like that) to make it more ""unique" to be a spec, in how it looks.
I guess I just need to have faith in skins...

I wonder just how many people will use the skins instead of just transmoging over it. Yes tons of people will keep the Ashbringer/Doomhammer skins but the rest will probably be covered soon. I know for me outside of the Arcane mage staff, I'll cover everything else with something I already have.....specially my rogue.
Me thinks Chromie has a whole lot of splaining to do!

We've seen all the fury and prot skins unless blizz intends to change them, which Holinka says they are not.

We saw only one image with fury artefacts and almost nothing for arms ..... I really like the basic and improved model of fury sword + this skin and I hope they will keep them

But I have to agree all fury skins are very similar in comparison with artifacts of some other classes ( unholy, blood DK, outlaw Rogue, ... ) and our artifact is " new, unknown " so some skin could be easily changed to sword-axe, ...
