Help with Choosing Upgrade Parts

Since I flubbed really badly on my last decision and not looked for your advice, I'm taking the safer route and am looking to see if what I've chosen would work for me before I buy it.

CPU: I'm not looking to overclock anything, which is why I went for the 50$ cheaper one.

Fan: I'm also not entirely sure if the case I want would allow me to fit the 212 EVO, so I went with the highest rated 'flat' fan.

My current setup is thus:

CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400

Mobo: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5G41TM_LX/

Case: Stock HP Pavillion a6342p

Fan: A godawful old one that I thought would run quietly.

Maybe spend 70-80$ more and get a i5 6600 with a 1151 Mainboard and DDR4 Ram.
Oh and if you want a quite CPU cooler try Noctua.
