Offspec and Legendary ring

So I find myself having to switch from DPS to a tank for my guild.

My legendary ring is either 777 or 780 as DPS.. but 735 as a tank. Is there any catch-up mechanic or way to swap the ilvls between them? Or am I screwed and have to start leveling the tank ring from the beginning?
