Looking to spend about 200 for 1 purchase adn 130 the other for the cpu, motherboard, and gpu. Plays league of legends and dungeon defenders 2 atm but not many graphically intensive games. So was wondering if anyone had any ideas what to spend the money on with this coming black friday/cyber monday sales. Thank you for your time.

i dont think you will find anything for sale since the price range is low.

just go to a store near you and look up what you can find.

a good gpu these days is a gtx970 and its 350$ (ish)
    motherboard is like 80-140$

and a cpu is like 200-500$

you will have to get some of the cheapest stuff they even got.

it doesnt have to be any where near top of the line like that. It's just his parts are quite old so looking for ok items. Like the puppy/dolphin pieces you'd normally see in the builds of the month on here

Don't think you can make it much better than that.

Would be good to know the exact model of the power supply tho, you don't want to explode your new parts do you?

Check for Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, but at the moment, Kos' proposal is the best one here.

ran into an issue found out it's 2 people buying it for my friend one is spending up to 200 and the other 130. Assuming the 200 is going towards the cpu/motherboard and the 130 is towards the gpu

Also how would these parts compare to the ones in the puppy build on the setup of the month here

They are better than puppy for gaming, a lot better. Now back to that "issue" well you can't do much with it. You won't fit those as you like so...130 for gpu is going a couple tiers below proposed one. Get the 2 friends together and buy them.

i did find out what he currently had if it helps at all to show what an upgrade would be
    Cpu: amd phenom II x4 965 3.40ghz
    gpu: nvidia geforce gtx 285

But yeah its for christmas. Already tried to get them to go in on it together and i dont know if i can get that to happen, they seem to want to say "hey i got you this" clearly defined, so a backup plan if i cant get them too would be nice.

getting a better cpu and a decent gpu id think might be best since swapping out the gpu later would be much easier, but anything that fits that price issue would be a nice help
also we have a micro center with 6% sales tax near me if there is an option there
