All three of us just quit on the spot to go do something else that wouldn't drain our enjoyment.

I hate that. When you know its going to be bullshit. You sit there thinking "why am I spending 20 minutes to play a game im not enjoying when I could be doing something else?"

Exactly our reasoning. One match that's like that here and there, I can deal with that. But we've had those matches all night, we just couldn't be bothered with it anymore.

It's not "random", it's auto-select. It fills out a role needed, which usually leaves me with a tank or healer.

Yeah overall - the changes improved things but there's still plenty of room for it to get better.

IMO the balancing of warriors/supports still needs to be tightened up, but the biggest issue is the amount of partial teams in the queues and the way matchmaking handles partials.

    The queue considers 2+3 = 5. It doesn't of course :P

Then again sometimes you're playing against 5 friends who all suck, so it's not always the end!

After facing the same bullcrap in almost all our games (and losing because of that one random Kerrigan or whatever with no clue how to combo) we just gave up and watched some youtube.

I had a string a games a week ago where im on a team of 5 randoms and they have 2 groups of 2 or a group of 2 with a group of 3. I don't understand the matchmaking. If all 10 of us are within 3 levels of eachother, why not put one group on each side so it evens out? a group of 2 with a group of 3, is way better than a group of randoms.

I ask myself this question all the time. I think it's because the matchmaker puts too much emphasis on the internal MMR rather than team size/comp.

MM is still along ways away but heading to HL to think your problems will be solved is a bad idea..
I am too chicken to play QM let alone think of playing HL because of the first few times I tried QMs, in the first hour I started playing HoTS ever. How can a level 1-3 player get queued against veteran players? And groups of them? I'm supposed to find being absolutely roflstomped by co-ordinated, highly-skilled players, fun? And expect me to go back for more? Umm no.

P.s. I'm sorry to whoever the higher level players were that had the misfortune of getting grouped with me :P

P.p.s Where do you even learn about what heroes are best with what maps? I kinda get the feel from playing lots of different heroes, which of them are better on some maps than others, or some of the other Heroes they go good/bad with, and the icy veins guides give some info, but uhh is there a general consesus somewhere, particularly on map+hero comps, for newbies?

Personally I think some people exaggerate how good or bad heroes are on particular maps. It's not a huge difference.

I'd say heroes with strong wave clear - mostly specialists - do well on Spider Queen. Otherwise the differences are minor.

The one exception there would be Sylvanas on Haunted Mines. Man, she could make the whole match revolve around her.

I would also vouch for Sgt. Hammer on the Diablo style maps, fairly significant disparity to how good she is elsewhere.

It's been a while since I played HM

What's the big deal with Sylvanas on HM?

Mmm, I dunno, she's good in a lot of areas.

Her ability to shut down towers essentially made it mandatory for the the opposing team to always be in her lane when golems were out, almost no matter how weak/strong they were. Even a 25-30 golem could absolutely wreck a lane if the defending team didn't show up to deal with her.

Quick match should have never ever been random heroes. Dumbest thing they did, which makes QM unplayable.

Just adding my 2cents to the post title. Was a victim of the worst 6 games in a row today of the worst comps vs. amazing comps, So bad that i'm considering quitting the game. There's no way you can learn to play a "new to you" hero when there's nothing you can do all game.

No, choosing who we want to play is one of the advantages in going QM.

The problem is Blizzard half-assed the system so you get Murky/Cho'gall/Aba/Nova comps vs. decent comp.

Like when your entire team are ranger assassins or specialists, and the enemy team are all front liners and divers. Not fun.

Comp hardly matters in QM though. We've all won with wonky comps.

    I disagree. It matters.

Sure sometimes you win some horribly lopsided match because your opponents were vegetables, but that's just another failure of the matchmaking system really - it put you up against a far worse team.

That actually describes MM doing a good job.
