Ask 10 different feminists, get 10 different answers.

Do we? They seem to be outnumbered by the MRAs.

About that comment on the first page.

I don't think paying homeless people makes you scum. Like it or not, that isn't force. Now, I may dislike whatever someone may enjoy. Like paying homeless people to eat poo or whatever. I think less of a person such as that. However, that person paying that homeless person to eat shit is doing a heck of a lot more for that homeless person than my cheap ass.

Is a person paying a homeless girl for a lap dance taking advantage of her situation? Yes.
Is that person a bit of a dick? Maybe.

Is that person forcing that girl to grind on him in exchange for money? Lol no.

At the end of the day we all have a price. That price rises and lowers with our situation and moral standing, but it's still there. If someone accepts that cash as their set price, then that is on them. So long as they don't get themselves killed or any other illegal thing, we need to leave it be.

Lap dances are fine. Anyone who thinks different can think what they want but stay out of two consenting adults , not even having sex, business.

Wanting equality does not make you an MRA.

I agree about slut shaming, but I don't really view exotic dancing the same way that i view women who consider themselves sexually liberal...I think some women choose to do sex work because of lack of economic opportunities, would most women choose sex work if it paid on par with other forms of easy-access work, such as waiting tables or retail? What about if the stigma was removed from sex work, would that encourage more women to consider sex work as a job or a career?

Overall when I think about sex work and whether it benefits women, I think about consequences. Do women experience emotional trauma due to sex work? etc. These questions are not easy to answer.

Links are more about prostitution specifically, but there can be some crossover from one area of sex work to another.

Or already had some sort of trauma happen to them that made that career path desirable to them, such as sexual abuse during their childhood.
I think the problem here is that these fields have been marginalized till recently, being illegal for the most part, and hence criminal world took over them. The danger of working as a stripper/prostitute is not that the profession itself is dangerous, but rather that people controlling the business are not the most savory characters. There are all kinds of stories circulating everywhere about prostitutes getting hooked on heavy drugs, getting beaten hard for not having collected enough money, forced to sign all kinds of crazy contracts essentially giving their lives to the employer... Escaping this underworld is hard and dangerous, and many don't even get to the part of escaping, completely giving up on their lives.

If prostitution/strip clubs/etc. were not criminalized, if the employers treated their employees with dignity, like on "normal" jobs - then, in my opinion, these professions would be as good as any. There is nothing wrong in sex for fun, both sides want it, one side is willing to pay for it to another - usual business contract, no harm done. Morally, some people would still see it as wrong - but then morals are subjective...

I think all prostitution and seedy 'sex work' i.e. lapdancing, camwhoring etc is degrading, whether it's a man or woman doing it. As a lifestyle choice I see nothing worthy of respect or admiration in any of it.

not sure why having sex/making others horny for money is anymore degrading then doing anything else that causes no harm to anyone for money

would i do it? no, because im a scardy cat, i would be too worried about gaining the attention of mentally unstable people in a world (sex industry) that has little to no laws/law enforcement that would protect me from them

    Just saying.
You said Feminism threads bore you, then post a thread with "feminism" in the title.
Difference between a genuine discussion about feminism and the usual FEMINAZIS MEDIA BS that's ejaculated all over Gen-OT

That may very well be, I agree that the stigma and often illegal nature of the work are factors here.

So far I think opinions are split, but a strong contingent of Feminist activists are opposed to it and find it morally abhorrent and generally oppose all sex work.

Among women? I think there is a split. Being sexy and sexual is getting more common place. Pole dancing classes and the like are an active form of exercise for example.
