    Help choosing new graphics card.

Basically, 970 or 390? Or should I choose a lesser card and upgrade other items as well?

I've always been a fan of Nvidia mainly because of bad experiences in the past with AMD. I'm willing to use the Radeon if it's completely worth it.

The r9 390 is better card than gtx970 atm. With their 50buck drop they are worth even more performance/value. Driver screw ups tho happen at both and will go from game to game. I consider them close enough in performance that i'd say value usually determines it. Gtx970 has alot more room for overclocking if you are into that but the other one offers 8gb vram which is alot. You probably won't need it tho @ 1080p anyway.
R9 390 is supposed to benefit more withen dx12 comes but you can't count on something 1-2years away.
