    My Recipe:

Tools: Shallow or flat griddle pan, Spatula, preferably silicon/rubber (must be bendy)

    Real butter
Two slices of bread (not picky about my bread as long as it is fresh)
    Two slices of provolone
    One slice of yellow american
    Itallian Dressing

    1) Butter your pan, making sure not to go above medium heat.
    2) Assemble your sammich placing the yellow american in between two slices of prov
    3) butter the top of the assembled sammich HEAVILY.
    4) Heat sammich on unbuttered side, pressing firmly (sammich will slide slightly as it melts) being careful to watch the edges. As soon as you see the butter stopping from bubbling around the edge, flip
    5) after flipping sammich, sprinkle a small amount of itallian dressing on toasted side. Watch untoasted side as you did the first side, pressing firmly. Flip when appropiate.
    6) Cut the heat after second flip. Sprinkle dressing on newly toasted side. After a few moments flip again to seal dressing on second side.
    7) Slide sammich, NOT LIFT on to plate.

Enjoy. Serve with tomato soup or my personal fav, spaghetti o's and meat balls.

In my exp cleanup isn't any different. As long as the mayo is being spread on the bread prior to going on a pan.

Do it. It's essentially a caprese salad, but melted, and on crostini. $12 please.

    3. On the other half of the roll, lay the slice of mozzarella, the sliced fig, basil leaf, and season with salt and pepper

I got this from some website when I was looking for an oeuf cocotte recipe, I made it and it was lovely - I still haven't got around to making the oeuf cocotte yet.

I feel like the key is the bread followed by the pairing of cheese to the bread. Bad Exmaples: tangy sourdough and tangy cheese. Soft thin bread and thick hard cheese.
Good Examples: White bread you have to cut yourself over a half inch thick + American or What the BF likes : White cheddar, basil and cherry preserves that are not too sugary.

I enjoy a nice browning in a pan or skillet/flat griddle. I use a brick/stone in foil for the weight because my BF thinks it's ghetto-cute and a pannini maker is way to gay for him and I to handle. :P lol

Depending on my mood I will use butter .. but coverage, crust, browning and mouth feel seem to favor, at least in my home, Pam or other spray oil on the bread over butter.

Edit: I like translucent white onion in mine, or turkey breast that is not wet (you know what I mean if you eat coldcuts) or bacon.

    Two slices of bread
Cut a hole in the middle of each with like a cup or something (wine glasses work well for this)
    Butter pan
Place bread in pan, flip that shit once
Add one egg into the hole of each slice
Add a slice of cheese on top of each slice
Add a slice of ham onto one of the slices
Wait for the eggs to cook
Carefully put one slice on top of the other

Eat with a knife and fork.

You guys are missing the most critical, crucial step to the Perfect Grilled Cheese! Before you make your grilled cheese, you should have made a small tub of Garlic Butter http://allrecipes.com/recipe/36925/garlic-butter/. Garlic butter can be used in almost every non-sweet requirement for butter (Note: “non-sweet”. If you use garlic butter for cookies, you’re doing it wrong). So, here’s my recipe…

    - 2 slices thick cut sourdough bread lightly toasted in toaster first.
    - 2 slices thick cut pepperjack cheese
    - 4-6 slices of thin cut smoked deli ham
    - 1 slice fresh tomato
    - Salt & Pepper to taste
    - Pre-made Garlic Butter

Step 1) Lightly toast sourdough bread so it is barely starting to brown. This helps the bread from becoming greasy.
Step 2) Heat skillet on medium heat until a drop of water just begins to sizzle
Step 3) Lightly and evenly butter one side of each slice of toasted (and cooled) bread
Step 4) Place each piece of bread butter side down onto skillet, followed by a slice of cheese on each.
Step 5) While bread is frying and cheese melting, pile ham on skillet and cook until cheese is melted. Turn once. (It’s handy to make this pile of meat “bread-sized).
Step 6) Once cheese is melted and bread is golden brown, place pile of ham and slice of tomato on once slice of bread. Place other side of bread on top and smush until cheese seeps out from the sides.
Step 7) Cut diagonally and serve with Lays Potato Chips, Chunky Tomato Soup, and a pickle.
