I believe I read somewhere that venus actually has a layer of atmosphere that a human could live and breathe in, it was a little hot like 115-120 degrees or something, also we are talking cloud cities here as the surface is like 500 degrees. But it was an interesting read.

Aren't Venus' clouds poisonous? I think sky cities would likely be the best way in general of Venusian colonization.

well the space elevator is a fantastic idea and it will happen within 50 years is my guess but about the rockets while yes they are expensive there are companies working on landing rockets to cut back on costs which will make space exploration cheaper

On the same topic, if I had to look down from a space elevator I would shit my pants.

This is like the cringe-worthy futurism thread: Venus Project, Sexbots that are made from expensive plastics and metals, Humans Need Not Apply...we've hit the trifecta, folks.

If there's demand, someone will supply. In the near future you won't own a sexbot but likely rent it. Eventually it'll get cheap enough that anyone could just own one or maybe two. All a sexbot is going to be is a giant Dakimakura. Don't expect them to walk and talk and even perform sex. Robots today can't even walk without falling. Fallout 4 has the right idea that eventually sexbots maybe like synths. Eventually evolving to that of human flesh and DNA. But for the immediate moment, just a giant doll you can play with.

Cheap gene resequencing allowing for cost-effective removal of genetic diseases, and cosmetic alterations from the genetic-level, up: Want to be blonde? Be a blonde.

A lot closer and cheaper than you think. Look up $130 CRISPR kit that you can play with. Though not with humans or even your pet cat, at least not without a lot of creativity.

Then buy a car. I'll be one of the first people to convert my cars to self driving. Cause of this reason.

I wake up and jump in my car and let it drive me to work while I play a game on my dash screen. When it drops me off I'll just tell my car to go home and avoid parking fees. An alarm clock in the car will go off to come back to pick me up and drive me home. On the way back home I can log into WoW and get experience and loot with my friends online.

I get more time for myself during the day and avoid paying a parking fee. So long as there isn't tolls it's cheaper to burn gas than park a car in some places. I like to drive more than anyone but I'd rather be doing something else during the ride.

I feel as if we need to make vehicles 100% electricity reliant, this would essentially break the oil industry, however it will save countless ecosystems and be more efficent in the long term if pulled off successfully.

I'm also in support of the construction of hyperloops, a hypothetical mode of transportation first proposed by Elon Musk not too dissimilar to a train in many ways.

Personally think that transhumanism should be shot dead before people start laughing at the ideas they represent. I would just play this from Fallout 4 and dream about the future. It's like the perfect tune to hear when you think of things in the future.

Since they rely a lot of the oil revenues and invested little to none due to socialist welfare state.

The way I see it, fusion is something that stars do easily because they're freakin huge mass is giving them a infinite source of energy which is gravity. I don't think the people that dreamed up fusion here on Earth considered that. The truth is we need a much better battery. Quicker to charge and holds more of a charge. Like a Super capacitor which would be great to have in my car instead of those old heavy piles of crap we stick in cars. Was thinking of building one myself but they're all over Amazon and they're cheap.



Have a good battery with solar power and homes don't need Fusion or Fission power. We'll leave that kind of power to the corporations.

You'll find as more countries move away from oil and move towards electric that there will be a surplus of oil and prices will dramatically drop. Right now the electric car is as hip as having an iPhone. So is going solar, but may cause more problems for those with homes that rely on the grid for power as power companies will likely increase the price of delivery to offset the loss of income from people going solar.

Not sure what the welfare state has to do with anything.

Venus is probably my vote but you'd need to have someone sit down and come up with a serious idea. There's 3 major problems with Venus that need very creative ideas. Something like blocking out the Sun is just absurdly expensive. The biggest problem is the immense amount of C02 that needs to be removed. Maybe a number of machines floating high in the clouds could suck it up and compress it into bricks and simply drop it on the ground. Given the bricks don't turn back into gas.

I would think any real colonization effort of Venus would start in the clouds. Over time creating a vast canopy of floating cities that block out much of the sunlight below.

Another factor will be atmospheric processing. The slow transformation of the lower layer atmosphere via industrial means. Humans are already good at polluting, why not pump out ash and soot to slowly darken the skies of Venus?

Reducing the atmospheric pressure will be challenging, all the processing and reforming it won't do much good when there is just simply too damn much of it so that is a challenge.

Venus' lack of a magnetic sphere is also a problem, but that is also a Martian problem as well. Venus' slow rotation is also a problem that would either require planetary engineering of incredible proportions or using the floating cities above as eventual heat and light sources, a kind of artificial sky of sorts.

I think we need to start experimenting with what I call DGT (Designer Gene Therapy). To be able to modify your zygotes, embryos and yourself with advanced stem cell and somatic modification.

Hm...my home state huh? Well this is certainly progress in one form, any successful transplantation is. I would like to say that we should develop better transplantation forms, not that it is bad nor unneeded, however it seems very Frankenstein the way transplanted limbs appear.

Now if we could find a way to rapidly grow back limbs and destoryed tissue, muscle and bone that could revolutionize the medical field.

I hope this thread actually goes somewhere, but I just kind of think we need a thread that we can discuss the future and all of the achievements that are taking place in the social and scientific scale and what they mean for the future. Be free to post scientific articles and discuss them, discuss technology or concepts such as macroengineering found in Science fiction that could be applied to the real world. Really anything that has to do with the future.

Why didn't you post any scientific articles in your OP? Didn't you start a very similar thread months ago that no one posted in? It's difficult to talk about anything in an everything-thread so they're senseless.
