Why would we want Mexico? It would essentially need to be a permanent deployment of the military to keep the peace, and I cant be in favor of that. Not only would we need to deal with the drug cartels, but also guerilla groups that dont want to be part of the U.S

Also, pretty sure many Texans wouldnt be too pleased with that, history being what it is and all.

Well presumably after some integration period, it would no longer need to be a military occupation, any more than we continue to militarily occupy California.

    Can the US? Sure.

Should the US? Nooooooooooooooooooooo. We really don't need all of Mexico's problems on top of our own laundry list of issues.

Well California didnt have nearly as large a native population, and we sent a ton of settlers first, who then petitioned. That's not going to be true of Mexico.

You still haven't answered any questions and you are just spouting absolute nonsense and idiocy. How would this US ruled Mexico look in your imagination and what would you do with the native population, and how would you finance all this nonsense?

How will you police the annexed territories? How will you handle the day to day administration of a fully Spanish speaking population?

Will you annex the whole of Mexico or just parts of it? The annexation of Mexico will in no way solve the cartel problem...it will simply move the borders of the problem around, and if anything make it a more internal problem.

The US military is not a police force, tho it acquired some policing skills from the long occupation of Iraq, it lacks the training and the ability to fully function as a police force. Beyond that giving police powers to the military in US territories is unconstitutional.

You are either trolling us or you are really incredibly dense.
While I agree this idea is ludicrous in modern world politics and even counter productive, historically, the US has already annexed almost half of Mexico.

Well if Trump gets elected OP there is a reasonable chance you might see this in your lifetime if he confuses Sombreros with a Taqiyah and thinks their harboring enemies of the great US of A that is.

Change NEEDs to happen. In Sweden and I will do anything to make sure it moves to the right only then will it begin to heal.

While the annexation of Mexico is ludicrous to even discuss, on a far more realistic point it does make you wonder what will happen with this "superwall" if Trump is elected. Obviously he hasn't seen the hundreds of tunnels underneath the current border fences. The cartels are quite good now at tunnels, as the escape of Chapo Guzman showed, and with all of the tunnels found. So the only way a wall would have any effect at all would be with a buffer zone long enough to not be practical for tunneling under. I'm not sure how long that is, 1 mile, 3 miles? If that's the case one side or the other is going to have to give up some land. Otherwise the cartels will have 50 tunnels built under the wall before it's ever finished.

    War to annex, no.
    War to stop invasion, yes.

Sadly the last part isn't as true now. More people are heading back into Mexico then crossing over. Turns out that American dream isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Having some doesn't mean you want more. There are plenty of insane or moronic thoughts on mmo champ, but thinking the US could or would just take over Mexico is trending towards the top of the dumb pile.

The US already had its chance with the Mexican American war and instead decided to buy half of Mexico for really cheap instead.

  16. #136
but seriosuly OP thinks going to war adjacent Mexico is going to be a good idea? it's hard to gage people sometimes.

nobody wants the u.s either... economy is horrible, government rather support wars and people from other countries rather than invest the money in its own cities and people, extremely poor global image, constant news of attacks by crazy people, obesity is a huge problem, the government thinks its a good idea to let people use drugs cause.... drugs are good, mmmkay.
