Any unique stories like that of Ashes of Al'Ar?

First off, I want to say hey, what's up, Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate.

Second off, I'm not sure if this belongs here but this is General, so why not.

Let's get this started off. As everyone may or may not know, I'm not sure if this is true, but I heard it is so I am hoping that there are more stories imbedded in WoW just like this one. So, the story to Ashes of Al'ar, the inevitable Flaming Phoenix that every and their mother wants. How did that mystical bird come to fruition? Well, here is the story of said magical bird, just incase you didn't know.

To my knowledge this legendary mount was brought into this world for a little boy by the name of Ezra. Ezra and his father liked playing World of Warcraft together and at the age of 10, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. While in the hospital in chronic pain, Make-A-Wish Foundation visited him, where he then asked to visit Blizzard saying, "..maybe they can make a character or we can do fun things!".

Blizzard fulfilled this little boys dreams and brought him and his father to the HQ of the gaming giant and gave the kid the wish he asked for, and then some. He designed his own quest where he voices a Tauren (the only one in the zone right after the Tauren starting zone (1-6) where you help him find his dog.)) He sounds like no other Tauren and Blizzard input his voice into the game. Not only that, but they created a PvP bow for the young boy, that I believe had a quote that stated ".. crafted by ezra" or something to that nature. But to make this kids dreams sore through the sky and have him forever live in infamy, they created the most unqiue mount for the little boy, Ashes of Al'Ar.

Sadly, the boy passed away at the age of 12, but his legacy continues in-game with his own character, own bow, and own mount. A mount so sought after that people have been farming for weeks, months, even years.

I was wondering if there were any more stories like this in the World of Warcraft "lore" where an item/mount/zone/quest/etc. was added for a special reason for someone/something as a tribute, so to speak.

Yeah, that tribute was pretty cool of them. A few others come to mind though, such as...

    - The WKM Memorial inside Orgrimmar's largest rocky pillar - http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/WKM

    - Crusader Bridenbrad and his quest "Light Within the Darkness" - http://www.wowhead.com/npc=30562/cru...ents:id=899447

    - Robin Williams tribute - http://www.wowhead.com/news=242980/r...f-draenor-beta

There's really too many to list - just check this out OP - http://www.wowhead.com/guides/miscel...game-memorials

They actually didn't create the Ashes of Al'ar for him, though they did give it to him before anyone had gotten it to drop in-game.

http://www.wowhead.com/item=87456/hexus-amplifying-helm was named after a blind player (A British soldier who was blinded by a IED) with http://www.wowhead.com/item=87455/da...ll-seeing-eyes being named after his guildie that helps him through raids with follow/assist macros and voice chat so he could continue playing the game, hence the flavor text on the items
