All of a sudden all my letters in my ELVUI chat have a "shadowed" background to them

If I look really close the letters seem to have a "shadow" behind them. I dont know why. I have outlines on the fonts turned off but I dont know how to get rid of this.

WoW does this automatically if you use a very large font. As far as I know it cannot easily be avoided. It's a feature of the engine originally implemented back at the turn of the century for use in Warcraft 3 at high resolutions.
