PvE: Where to start?

I haven't done PvE since Cataclysm, and even then I didn't do it seriously. Back in Wrath was probably when I did it the most. Since then I haven't had any urge to PvE and just focused on PvP. Now I feel like there's a whole other side to the game I never experienced and want to get into PvE, but don't know where to start. I am thinking of making a healer because I find it most fun in PvE (I healed in Wrath) so I will be starting from scratch. I know nothing about the viable specs, methods to gear up, etc. All input is welcome.

In order

1) Decide which class you want to commit to
2) Read up all information you can on advanced rotations/tactics so you're not deadweight in the raid
3) Find a guild willing to take you in and run you through content + discuss specs
4) Do legendary ring questline to start your grinding
5) Get carried through content by that guild
6) Fill in gaps with LFR or mythic dungeons
7) Continue gearing up/practicing your gameplay
8) Step 7
9) Step 8
10) Once you've outgrown that guild, find one which matches your new talents
