I was not going to address this, but I must say taking something from the Mafia discussion thread and using it ingame is massively bad form. Also, Max should have kept that stuff in the dead thread until after the game concluded.

But, since it was mentioned and even quoted here, I think it goes to show mafia is being desperate. Personally, I try not to even read that thread while a game is in progress.

I took Bradley under my wing when he first joined the force, in time I started to mentor him, I wanted to groom him for my position, over the years we built up a great friendship, I came to know his extended family and treated them like they were my own family because I didn't have one to care for. (there is a bit more than this but I don't know how much i can get away with)

Even though I'm retired and fragile my mind is as sharp as it always was...

That kinda sums up the first bit the second bit is the revenge bit there are more names in that bit and I really unsure how much more I can provide you with out breaking the obvious rules.

I am glad someone wants to discuss the role claims because I think they are important. Dranx didn't rush back to tell his wonderful story did he? Anakso didn't offer us a character either right? I highly doubt the mafia got claims. What was the investigation team for if they did?

I find it very suspicious that your being so selective with your reasoning, for example you didn't say who I was actually voting for. Which as it happens is someone who is high up on your trust list! I haven't played a perfect game look at my vote record plenty to ask questions about... so do it. Same with everyone lets look at everyone's vote records we can't afford a mislynch.

I also challenged your reads on Satsubl an Tumppu in that same post. They are with me at the bottom of your trust list (while being at the top of mine) and your next targets by the looks of things. This is truly stunning for me, because if you just simply follow the game, I think it's kinda obvious that the mafia will kill one of these two tonight. Town lelly would just never miss this much information and make such a horrendous balls up.

Your trying to suggest that we can't use the role claims to figure stuff out is also very scummy. Anakso didn't have one, Dranx also never bothered to claim his. Still anything to deflect away from your own character claim I guess.

Crackle, Dendrek, Reticence all thought you were scum and I'm happy to agree.

To the people who find me suspicious I can't defend myself if you don't go give me a reason for voting on me like Lelly. I'd like to point out I have pleaded with her for reasoning and discussion and got nothing in response to my post. It isn't like I just asked, I asked more than 24 hours ago.

To the right, an elderly lady sat in front of the vanity applying deep red lipstick. The room was silent before the woman turned around to greet the police man with a wicked smile.

Setup

General plot:

Follow the general plot of the book/movie. Tragic crime happens and killer is unknown/free. big group of people all connected to the victim murders the suspect on the train. Detectives try to figure out who killed the suspect.

In this case Pistol pink played as our suspect and a much of Agatha's detectives were flung on the train to act as the mafia in this game.

Balance

Characters-
I wanted to kind of go back to Greeny's batman game where you knew possible characters that could be in the game. I think it strikes a good balance between not knowing anything, and giving some clue ins.
Aside from the Max and lelly mix up, everyone got a unique character and rp (except Mafia did not get RP because it would make no sense for them).
I didn't want the list of characters to give away the amount of mafia so I i made sure to leave one or two more predominant Agatha Christie detectives as fakes in the list. In total, I made sure there was enough fakes so that theoretically the Mafia could get lucky and make it out with most of their members if everyone decided to character claim day 1.

Roles-
TPR:
In general I wanted to have weak TPR to help the game depend more on the day phase. To do this, I made the cop into a character cop. In reality, I did not expect this to weaken the role by much at all because a quick google search of your results would tell you if they were mafia or not.

I also dropped the doc and went with the Epicmafia version of the Nurse which is basically our JK. This role both was useless for protecting the TPR and potentially super weakened by the fact that there were 3 strongman kills that could happen.

I also ripped off the loudmouth and priest roles from Epic mafia. I added the Loudmouth because I wanted to give the chance for the town to confirm the identity of the mafia, and to potentially harm the Nurse/cop should they be too vocal about their characters. It also provided a trip up for the SK. The priest was a weaker down version of the Loud mouth.

I liked the Idea of the two person mason because it is both interesting because two people could confirm each other if they needed early on, but did not give the town and real power from these roles late game.

Mafia:
Mafia started off with 2 CC and got the choice of 2 Strongmen, or an extra 2 free CC. I personally think the 2 CC was the better option, but then again, only I know about the whole nurse thing. Because of the size, I figured a godfather was needed, They got their own personal CC of which they would turn up as when investigated. This gave the mafia a total of 3 CC, but only really 2 to play around with.

The mafia also have a lover detective pair. I wanted to give them an extra little useless boost. The only positive thing they could have found was the doctor though the name. However, I mostly added it to cause some paranoia in the mafia and I think it worked.

SK:
Vest and kill, what more can I say?

My Thoughts
I was fully surprised that it took so long for people to state the obvious that the detectives were mafia. I fully planned on that happening day 1-2 and that person getting a billion town brownie points.

I also really fucked up with Max's role card which potentially fucked him and the town over.
Overall I would say this probably favored the Mafia more than I would have liked. I wanted to try to strike a balance in this large ass game of having enough kills so that game wouldn't go on past like 9-10 days max.

All I have to say after that is Lurk, Lurk Lurk, LURK SOME MOAR

Sorry about the RP mix up with Max and lelly.
This game was kind of balanced around the town trying to out everyone by their characters early on.

Thanks for designing and running the game BF! Balance was close(ish) but clearly slanted toward mafia. Safeclaims, extra kills, GF, investigate, 9-man size vs town with only a few useful roles and no way to fight back except lynch, and only 2 mistakes allowed [with D1 nearly always 1]. SK like most games always has an uphill battle. WAY too harsh on town to perform perfectly. Some interesting concepts and role ideas -- a vig would have went a LONG way to help.

Lurking has been addressed in dead thread. Its tiring and we need to change by choice or force -- hope we dont have to waste someones hard work designing a game for attitudes to change.

So, that's the end of that. This was a fun game to play. I investigated Cruelle on N1. I investigated Celtic on N2. I investigated Arialla on N3, but never got a result because some nasty person-or-other stabbed me with a knife. Accuracy-wise however, I think I was spot on, and I'm actually a bit proud of my accurracy here. Playstyle-wise, yea, I was too quiet. I didn't want to stand out too much, and you caught onto me on that. If there is anything I regret, that is it. Maybe I should have gone harder out on someone I didn't quite was sure was scum - Dupti got to feel my wrath there for a second - but it didn't quite pay off I see.

I knew putting the "mafia is detectives" post would paint a huge target on my back. I mean, that theory I had on N1. I also expected someone in the mafia to question why I would do that if I was a TPR. It obviously failed bigtime this gamble.

I'm really glad I did post that theory though, because someone helped me identify that Tuppence was actually a detective character. I completely missed that the first time around.

But the main reasons you mafia thought I was the cop - because I defended Catta, and because I didn't buy the cop claim - those were both things I would have said regardless. I am kinda sad you thought I was the cop for those reasons. If it is this easy to make people think I am a TPR; I shall make life hell for the mafia for games to come :P

Ah well, another loss. Was close until Blood Fox fucked us all over. I totally blame Blood Fox!

In all seriousness though; this was a fun game. Thanks for hosting it!

I also had a TON of fun re-introducing Sherman Parker to the story. If anyone wants to know what REALLY took place after each game day, as told by the highly narcissistic Sherman Parker posing as Hercules Poiree, my quickthread is thataway.

Main reason was that theory.
I suggested your name because your theory was well developed and true and you had obviously worked on it for a while.
I thought everyone would think the detectives are maybe a tpr but the real cop would wonder straight away and come up with an explanation for the game structure.

Edit: basically because of your theory i surmised that you had more information than others.

I tried to lynch you three days in a row holy fuck. You are so hard to lynch. I feel really bad all this was because of an error. If that hadn't happened i would have played very differently knowing i couldn't lynch you. Maybe even bussed celtic.
