How can this be explained? (Wowprogress)

When we killed Gorefiend, it was the best rank we had on an individual-boss basis when looking at EU, Realm and World rankings separately in the guild details page. That is fine, and we could ignore Realm since it's a small sample. However, when we killed Xhul, the EU (and Realm) ranking was even better than Gorefiend's but the World rank was much worse than the world rank of Gorefiend's!

What? It's like the Chinese guilds had an exploit that nobody used or something.

Did non-EU regions get some kind of advantage on Xhul or something?

Hard to say anything if you aren't going to say what guild you are referring to.

Could be anything really. A lot of guilds dying and reforming. There are a boatload of Chinese guilds that killed a ton of bosses in the span of a week and then disappeared.

Getting wowprogress to remove dead guilds is a pain in the ass. My guild was stuck 1 rank lower for a long time until we got a guild removed that had died after killing Archimonde, and then reformed with a new name on a new server and basically had two of the top ranks.

The upper level is also done in a different order across the board, some kill xhul last, some go right for him. Some guilds skipped Gorefiend entirely.

That should be it - you can choose between Tyrant or Xhul for progress, and early on Xhul was considered easier than Tyrant because the boss was a mechanic check with no real gear-check (3 healable, no DPS requirements apart from keeping up with adds, etc), while Tyrant had pretty steep gear requirements. We progressed Xhul before Tyrant (but killed Tyrant first as we had our warrior absent one evening, giving us a night on tyrant that put us close to a kill) for this reason.

Gorefiend on the other hand is strict - you have no choise, everyone had to face him before moving on.

    Except loads of guilds didn't

Obviously he means a guild straight progressing and not one who brought in outside "help" to give them a skip. That being said, the VAST majority of guilds still progress through Gorefiend instead of skipping him and it's pretty much split on where to go between xhul/tyrant even at this point in the tier. That's why he is seeing the different in his progression ranks.

You misunderstood the post. What happens is not explained just by that. Compared to EU (and Realm) guilds, the Xhul rank is even better than Gorefiend's.

It's mainly weird that the World ranks seem to indicate Xhul was done much earlier across the world than in the EU.

It's 100% explained by it. Some guilds used someone with the skip to not do Gorefiend and downed Xhul earlier than your Gorefiend kill. So when you finally killed Gorefiend you went on to Xhul and while you might have killed Gorefiend before other guilds, you did not kill Xhul before the people who skipped. The people who skipped might have been more outside of EU if it's only affecting your world rank.

heh. It seems you understood you are wrong towards the end and you added that sentence. Yes, that's the whole point, if people skipped to Xhul, that's fine and well, and well known, I knew about it before I did Gorefiend and I even considered it, but, why is the ranking better on EU when doing Xhul compared to Gorefiend but much worse in World?

At this moment I don't discount a wowprogress bug.

Same deal for us, Erudite - US Zul'jin. Similar US/realm/world kills for all of our recent bosses until we get to Xhul where realm/US is basically the same but world is substantially increased.

Definitely not just an EU thing.
