Question for the parents on the forums

So if your child killed somebody, either on purpose or on accident would you cover it up or would you turn them in?

Answering now so I won't have to necro this thread years down the line when I have a kid.

Turn them in. If accident or self defense, they should be fine and hiding it would only make it worse. If killed someone in cold blood, they need to be taken off the street and rehabilitated.

Depends entirely on the situation leading to it.

Well of course I would turn them in. Child or not, killing someone is not something you cover up. You were responsible for a death, be responsible for the consequences.

I refuse to go down if my kid did something retarded, that's not how I raised them. If they tell me they are not guilty I will stand by them until the trial but if they come to me and admit it? I'm sorry son, you're gonna have to deal with your actions.

My father would turn me in, so I suppose I would turn in any child of mine who committed murder.

Yes, I'm curious too and a bit disturbed that 3 people have this train of thought. What possible circumstance could make you cover up a death? So little Tommy was driving the family car and accidently ran over Susy and killed her, or Tommy grabbed dads revolver and blew out neighbor Johnny's brains. Are either one of those reasons to cover it up? No.

    Turn them in

It would depend entirely on the situation. I would hope they would come to me first before killing anyone so I can convince them not to. However if someone molested them or hurt them in some way beyond acceptable levels then my child might have to convince me not to. Just some random killing? I would convince them to turn themselves in and face justice.

I would never turn in my own child.

being a father of 3 i have to go with, Depends entirely on the situation leading to it. I have a lot of property and heavy machinery, so i don't think it would be such a hard thing to do.

I wouldn't cover it up or turn them in. I might advise them a little bit on what I would do, but for the most part I would pretend I was ignorant of the whole situation.

Probably turn them in. If they commited murder, they need help.
