Mannoroth's P4 Overflowing Fel Energy

This is the ticking DoT from the pillars in P4 when you get too close.

Anyone knows how its damage is determined? I've been crunching logs, but all I see is it can hit anywhere from 50k to 500k. I wasn't able to find any sort of steady constant though...

If I remember correctly the damage from the pillars is amplified if you have gripping shadows stacks

I read this too somewhere, but my fellow DK got nuked by two 500k ticks with 0 Gripping Shadows stack.

If you're constantly close to the pillar, every tick that you take increase the damage you take from the next one. This cause and the one i posted above are all assumptions that i concluded from logs, yet I could be wrong.

We solved that issue by moving away from that pillar long before it starts to deal damage. Cannot provide the exact order of operations, it´s been a while. All this of course assuming you are having issues with that ability and not asking out of curiosity.

No you're correct the damage from pillar stacks (and is additionally amplified by wrath of guldan stacks).

Yes, it does increase the longer you stand in it. The damage increases by about 30/40k for each second you stand in it.
Standing right between the boss' front legs seems to do the trick though. Learnt it the hard way, I guess : )

No, it only was an issue on that one pull. It was really out of curiosity, I guess - you know, so that it doesn't happen again.
