The final build....For real this time I promise. Need opinions.

I know I know. Ive made a dozen threads like this over the last 2 or 3 years, but im finally ordering my parts tonight or tomorrow. I am leaving out an ssd and gpu in this list because I simply dont have enough money, and what I have will still be better than a slow dual core laptop from 2012 with a HD 4000 integrated gpu. Ill be ordering an ssd and the gpu in 2-3 weeks. I only need the parts Ive listed. I cant go a hair over 650 dollars. Is my build good, or can there be some changes that still keeps it under 650 dollars?

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($249.99 @ Newegg)

    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170XP-SLI ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($135.99 @ Amazon)
    Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($42.99 @ Newegg)
    Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($50.22 @ Amazon)
Case: Deepcool TESSERACT SW ATX Mid Tower Case ($47.98 @ Newegg)

I should also mention I only want to order from Amazon or Newegg. I want to keep my first build as painless as possible. Even if it means missing out on a few good deals.

Oh, and if it helps Ill either be getting a gtx 950 or amd 280 card when I do order the gpu in a few weeks. Info for mobo/case size.

Why would I spend that much on a hard drive?

Because when I made that list literally hours ago it was showing around $45.

    Some other things to note:

A budget build does not need a 6600k with an additional cooler. You are blowing literally $150+ on the potential to overclock what is essentially a 6500, when you factor in the motherboard costs. That price difference is not even close to being worth it. Finally, it would be insane to buy a gtx 950 for saving a total of 20-30 dollars off the r9 380.

Here is the build with fixed HDD http://pcpartpicker.com/p/btyg8d

    Total: $557.70

Does that motherboard have support for 2 monitors, and does it support dual channel ram? Not trying to be too picky, just want to be 100% sure.

The motherboard isn't really a concern when it comes to dual monitor support; that's on the GPU. The r9 380 can handle multiple monitors, and has the following ports: 1 x DL DVI-I 1 x DL DVI-D 1 x HDMI 1 x DisplayPort.

So, if your current monitor is HDMI and you want to hook up a second HDMI, you would need an adapter. Otherwise, if you have a different connection on your 2nd monitor it should work just fine as is.

    Dual channel ram? Yes.

Typically there are no reasons to aim for an ATX form factor unless you want extra expansion slots. Micro-atx works perfectly well, especially for budget builds.

Don't get that EVGA or Corsair CX PSU, both are crap!! I will try and make a list later.
    But that should be noted!

Im down for the idea of a 6500, but only if I can get a good mobo and a decent gpu with it. If not, id rather do what I was going to do before and get the 6600k and wait for a gpu. Remember though, my budget is 650 dollars and id prefer if I only shopped at Newegg and Amazon.

The 380 is an incredible card for 1080p gaming.

A list with the 6600k without GPU. I picked an SSD instead of HDD, because it will be easier to later on just add the HDD. YOu want the OS on the SSD. So the moment you add the SSD you would have to do a reinstall.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($244.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($34.50 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($134.99 @ Micro Center)
    Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($44.99 @ Newegg)
    Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($84.89 @ OutletPC)

And one with GPU (again no HDD). It is a bit over budget.

Why pay that much for a 380? Because of the auto-overclock scam?

Why do you make a new thread every time... That aside half the time you post links from US and the other from Canada. Where are you located/buying anyway?

    Which auto overclock?

It was one of the first ones with proper cooling. But I guess you could also go with this one.

@Zaera I really like the look of that. Is there any chance I could get a diff PSU recommendation that doesn't have a mail in rebate. I dont have the cash on hand to go that far over budget atm. Same for the motherboard, but thats not as big a deal. Is this mobo okay? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyt...rd-gaz170xpsli

That one has 2gb of memory.

It was such a mistake for me to bother helping on this forum since I have to debate people like you. Goodbye, and good luck.

Have a look at this one then.

ANd that mobo is good as well.

I'll be blunt OP, ditch the optical drive. And get either a GTX 950 or 960. The rest looks okay.

EDIT: Wait your OP has no video card? OP you need a video card or it's pointless to build now. Save more money if money is an issue.

EDIT2: I'd even wait for Polaris OP, AMDs new cards. Legion won't be out for another 4-6 months, lining up with the new GPUs that will come out, targeting the low end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45muNhrrAUg
