I loved it, it was exactly what I was expecting from the film. My only complaint was how they basically made up their own "origin" story with a few sprinkles of comic book lore... like every comic book character movie.
The plot was okay, but what made it shine was the barrage of humor. It was hilarious and that more than made up for the rather unoriginal plot. Already in the running for best movie of 2016, though with Suicide Squad and Civil War coming out . . . well, there's still 10 months to go.

Did anyone else think it was kind of weird that the girlfriend didn't die?
    Sir Robin, the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot.
Who had nearly fought the Dragon of Angnor.
Who had almost stood up to the vicious Chicken of Bristol.
And who had personally wet himself, at the Battle of Badon Hill.

I haven't read any Marvel or DC comics, so I only know the stories from talking with people who have, and the movies. I did get the impression that Deadpool didn't have a love interest, so I was kinda surprised to see him get the girl at the end.

Didn't read the whole thread but I have to ask. Were they fighting on a helicarrier? the turbines made me think it was.

Amazing movie, amazing fun. Didn't even hurt that Negasonic had Cannonball's powers. Also, loved the scene after the credits, and totally called it. While we were waiting for the scene, I told my friends "it would totally fit if the scene was just Deadpool wondering why the hell we're still sitting in the theater", and that's exactly what it was. The fourth wall scenes in the movie were done well too, I think. Will definitely watch again later.

Just as a side note, I had already made a thread for Deadpool, but since the OP didn't do a search and this one already has more replies, I'll just link the original movie thread here.

Although, I'm pretty sure Austin Powers may have very well stolen the idea from A Fish Called Wanda from 1988.

Ahh, yes... Expectations. The inability to manage them is the ruination of so many a moviegoing experience for so, so many people.

    Well, "only" $58 million.

Here's a huge chunk of spoilers from the movie, in the form of a list of all (or at least most) of the huge number of easter eggs:

I take it you missed the bit where he distinctly said "This is not that kind of superhero movie"?
