    Kingston vs G skill

Im in the process of picking parts for a new pc, and atm im looking at the Build of the month thingy. However, what is the differnce between Kingston (1866) and G skill (1600)? For someone unknown (like me) i'd say the Kingston is better due to higher clockspeed, but apparently Gskill is better. How come?

The speed difference will be negligible. Pick the RAM that is cheaper, or looks nicer. If you're using a CPU cooler with a larger heatsink then the height of the heat speader on the RAM might be an issue and force your hand.

1866 RAM is just Factory OCed 1600 RAM anyway. You can OC the 1600 yourself and achieve the same effect. However, the difference in speeds in gaming is negligible. It will not make a noticeable difference at all. Therefore, G Skill is better because they are a more reputable manufacturer.

well atm i can choose from:

    http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/45744...c15fbk2-8.html (2x 4GB DDR4 €41,95)
    http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/37749...c10fbk2-8.html (2x 4GB DDR3 €40,00)
    http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/43709...21c14fb-8.html (1x 8GB DDR4 €37,95)
    http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/37749...18c10fr-8.html (1x8GB DDR3 €36,95)
    http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/28276...l9d-8gbxl.html (2x4GB DDR3 €41,00)
    http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/31419...0mhz-cl10.html (1x8GB DDR3 €38,55)
    http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/37749...318c10f-8.html (1x8GB DDR3 €36,95)

Could probably name more but cant find any decent ones on that website. I'd prefer a 1x 8GB though, since i can always decide to upgrade to 16 GB later.

there's no way G Skill is more reputable than kingston. lol.

GSkill is a very gaming oriented company everything very flashy and the like. Kingston actually does a wack ton of different RAMs, all the way up to very professional ECC Reg. Dimm's. Kingston is a much bigger company and I wouldn't be surprised if they OEM for G.Skill or others. Not trying to make GSkill down, they make good RAM as well.

Personal preference really. Which ones looks pretty to you?

I tend to stick with Corsair or Kingston. They are the only companies I've used for RAM. I did use PNY once and it was utter garbage so I tend to stick to what I know works now.

Also, 2 sticks are better than one.

    Well,
    http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/43709...21c14fb-8.html (1x 8GB DDR4 €37,95)
    http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/37749...8c10fr-8.htmll (1x8GB DDR3 €36,95)

only differs by 1 Euro, but is DDR4. Shouldn't that automaticly make it better than DDR3?

Which does your motherboard support? DDR3 and DDR4 are physically different.

Then pick the one that works with the motherboard you're gonna get. Don't build your PC around your RAM.

I think im going to go with a G3258 CPU, as it seems better than the FX6300 for gaming. That means a need a Z97 Motherboard. (Right?)

Yup, Z97. Which I believe are all DDR3.

There are other motherboards you can use for that CPU and still overclock, I know there are a bunch of B85's that allow it.

Some Mother Boards have lists of RAM that the board supports. I always buy RAM that is on the "qualified vendors list" just to make sure they can't try and mess with me if there is a need to use the warranty.
