    How does loot work?

We've been having a general argument in my guild for awhile about how loot works.

We know you can run anything but Mythic multiple times and are only eligible for loot once...

But the argument comes up from whether or not that effects the number of items and/or loot options for the rest.

For example if we 20 man Heroic and 19 of the people are "loot locked" how many items will drop?

Some say one, but in the case of a tier boss...is that locked in to the a token?
If it is one, will it be only from the eligible player's loot table?

Probably a million threads about this...but I don't see any that address it completely.

    So, does anyone know?

20% chance per person for a normal drop.
10% chance per person for a tier drop.
I think that's how it works anyways.

For normal and heroic you get 2 loots for 10 people and an extra loot every 5 people you add, that means 15 people 3 loots, 20 people 4 loots and so on. The amount of tier tokens you get also scale with the number of people in the raid and if someone in your raid is saved to one boss it will be like he didn't partecipate in the kill.

So let's say you kill archimonde with 15 people but 5 are saved you will get loots as you were killing it with 10 man so 2 loots.
Also i'm pretty sure you get 20% chance to get extra loots every person you add to the group, so if you are 16 people you will get 3 loots and 20% chance for an extra loot, if 17 you get 3 loots and 40% chance for an extra loot. Might be wrong with numbers and someone will correct me.

On mythic you are locked with your group for a week so this doesn not apply as you simply can't do mythic with more than 1 group a week unless you are the leader and you are using that save yourself.

"The new Flex loot model will work similar to how Master Loot does today, but the number of drops will scale based on the number of people eligible for loot in the group. "(http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/...-Developer-Q-A).

Every single player adds a 20% chance for an item. If you do the raid with 20 players of which 19 are not eligible for loot, every boss will have a 20% chance of dropping one item.

He asked about tier as well though. Tier is 10% chance per person. It's possible to have a regular and a tier piece drop for only one person.

And for the only question that remains unanswered: No, if you kill a boss with just 1 loot-eligible person, the item that might drop will not necessarily be from his loot table.

Personal loot would be a much better option. Depending on the boss, personal loot would be better than ML unless you had ~15 people trying to give one person gear and none of the others needed anything.

Thanks...that's exactly what we needed to know.

So with 19 of 20 saved, there will be an 80% chance of no loot and a 90% chance that loot will not be tier...

Guess our hopes of fast gearing some new recruits are going down like the Titanic.

Personal loot would still be around 75% against though right?

Take the recruits on the run where everyone isn't locked. Most of your current raiders shouldn't need much more gear so it will mostly go to the recruits.

Personal loot is a 20% chance per boss (with presumably some bad luck protection). Also I don't get your point in regards with fast gearing new recruits. Just take them into the fresh run you're (apparently) doing, where everyone else gets saved and funnel the gear?

We have a few new recruits and most of us already run with other friend guilds at least once during the week.
And we usually sell a carry for Guild Bank cash at least once a week...

Well you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Personal loot is higher than 20% chance. The chance was increased around the time HFC came out. There is not bad luck protection.
