I thought it was a given that pheromones exist.

I have met men that I would not have otherwise been attracted to, that I was extremely attracted to. Of course personality and other factors make a difference, but really the attraction was completely chemical.

My husband can pick up on when I'm ovulating. He's much more interested in me than normal - my smell, looks, wanting more sex. I'm assuming it's because of the pheromones associated with ovulation and maybe a few other things.

It's pretty interesting to observe, actually.

I noticed the same, with guys I've dated.

Example of animal instinct in humans:

A baby breastfeeding.
Shying away from pain.
The "fight or flight" response.

There are tons of other examples.
