A funeral isn't for the dead, it's for the living to mourn. For those people who knew and were close to the deceased. If Obama, or anyone for that matter, doesn't want to attend they shouldn't be guilt tripped into it.

It's common practice for sitting presidents to not attend personal events like this. As someone who lives in the DC Metro area it's a fucking nightmare every time the president attends some stupid thing in the city. Shut down road, security, mobs of press, it would be disrespectful for him to attend.
