--- Want any of my Constitutional rights?, ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
I come from a time and a place where I judge people by the content of their character; I don't give a damn if you are tall or short; gay or straight; Jew or Gentile; White, Black, Brown or Green; Conservative or Liberal. -- Note to mods: if you are going to infract me have the decency to post the reason, and expect to hold everyone else to the same standard.
I like how you clowns keep typing "friend", like i give a shit what you think... like any of this actually matters. Be a dick and reserve items in a fantasy world, it's whatever, I just wasn't aware the general consensus was "fuck em" when it comes to new players. Now I know, thanks for informing me. I'll keep running no reserve raids, helping people, and handing out items to new players regardless of how disgusting you little heathens act.
Yes because we said we agreed with it. Most of us said it happens and there are remedies to the situation but keep insulting people if it makes you feel better. I don't agree with reserve runs but the option is there for me to make my own run or join a guild or look for a no reserve run just as this friend of yours has his/her options.
But is reserved loot REALLY a problem for someone who's just come back recently and is just getting into organized raiding? I mean, if half the loot that they'd want is on reserve, sure then it's an issue. But if a couple of pieces are on reserve I don't see how this is an issue.
By definition, we're talking about someone diving into organized HFC raiding for the first time or so and in that cast they'll need almost everything that drops for them. So what if a couple of things are on reserve? Sorry, but a player who refuses to raid at all because of that strikes me as entitled and more than a little whiny. Go raid for a few resets, get some upgrades and, sure, then when your only needed upgrades are the reserved items it's an issue. Short of that they're just cutting off their nose to spite their face.
Start a group with your friend and have no reserves/personal loot instead of posting here with fingers in your ears screaming bloody murder over what other people are doing that has zero effect on you.
Nothing wrong with Loot Council, in most cases these days, it actually works out in a new person's favor. A lot of the higher players in the guild already have their goodies and a new person, more often than not, will get quite a load of items their first raid or two.

This guy lol.
If you are only interested in whining, then what else is there to talk about. Several people have suggested ways of remedying your situation. Are you not understanding? Do you have anything constructive to say?
/roll and PL are absolutely not ways to distribute loot in organized raiding. Nor is DKP, really, because if the guild is good enough and has smart enough people, this ends up being a democratic loot council with contention on rare pieces which is stupid.
Want to prioritize 2pc and 4pc over 1/3/5? Too bad. Want to stack gear on top performers? Nope.
If you want to raid in this game, the single best thing you can do is learn how to play your spec well. Don't focus too much on loot. You'll get it eventually. Only the idiots who have no idea how to read a log are going to think you being in the middle of the raid 10-15 ilvls behind means you suck.
Closing thread. There might've been some discussion over the topic on the first few pages, with answers given to all possible options, but it seems that there is not much more to discuss.
