More things change, the more they stay the same. Looks like the Mercs will be yawning their way to another title.

The new qualifying seems cool but was really underwhelming in the final session.

I think despite Mercedes being 1 and 2 i still think they wont yawn themself to the title this year tbh Ferrari could have got closer to Lewis's time but decided not too because it wouldnt add much to their grid position and would be more a show off, as for the Q3 that shit is a big NO! i think the FIA needs to demand that the teams fight til the end.

I don't think they can force them, but they need to put rules in place which encourage them to do just that.

The qualifying today was (as Toto Wolff put it) rubbish. Christian Horner blasted it and apologised to the fans for it, and said it had to change. They have 2 weeks to sort it out now.

Yea Toro Rosso and Force India seem to have improved a lot and should give Williams some good competition.

The new qualifying seems like a good idea in theory but only if all the cars are equal. If this change stays, they should at least let the drivers finish their flying lap even after the 90 seconds are up and I think a lot of drivers thought that was the case as a few of them were starting their flying lap during their 90 second countdown.
Also, as Crofty was saying, on tracks like Silverstone, Spa and Singapore, you're gonna need about 3.5 minutes to do your out lap then flying lap.
The new Red Bull livery looks incredibly mean but it looks like it's gonna be another year all about the Mercs.

Here's hoping the juniors at Toro Rosso make a bigger name for themselves this season, especially Verstappen.

I think Ferrari will win races this year, I mean they took races last year and I think they are a lot closer this year.

I missed the qualifying but apparently the new system is terrible, they're already looking to change it for the next race. It seems Bernie will do anything to stop a Mercedes lock-out on the front row of the grid.

Really looking forward to tomorrows race though! Hoping McLaren do a lot better this year.

Is Ferrari as quick as Mercedes? prob not but it remains to be seen i do believe they would have been a bit closer if they went out but didnt because whats the point better to save tyre's also seems both teams are on a different strategy's when it comes to tyre's.

My prediction? Hamilton 1 Vettel 2 Raikkonen 3.

Few days ago Alonso was saying that McLaren were a gonna be a lot more competitive this year.

Feel bad for them cause started watching F1 when Hakkinen and Schumi were going at each other. How the mighty have fallen!

I felt sad for Alonso when he said he doesnt see Ferrari beat Mercedes and that only Mclaren is capable of doing it.

Hamilton was on fire in qualifying. Albert Park is definitely one of his strongest tracks.

    I think it'll be a Hamilton > Rosberg > Vettel.

I had some high hopes for Red Bull, especially Ricciardo but it looks like it's gonna be another average year for them.
I guess that's a good thing considering their dominance (Adrian Newey is a race engineering God) at the start of the decade.

EDIT: Arnie is in Australia! When asked if he drives around on track sometimes, "No - I drive tanks!"

Well 6am and soon race time, I am really excited for this race, really hope it's a good one.

Wanna see the McLarens take some places! Hopefully Lewis can take the win, would be good to see the Ferraris close though.

That was a damn big crash for Alonso. It looked like it was his fault, IMO.

  17. #17
Yeah that was Alonso's mistake, just didn't give the Gutierrez enough room. Terrible looking crash, must be scary as hell flying along upside down at those speeds.

  18. #18
Hell yea, for me the most amazing thing is they can get up and walk away from that. Safety has come so far in this sport.

And why Ferrari?! Why would you not go back out on the mediums

Yeah Ferrari have thrown this away for Vettel. He couldn't pull away from Rosberg and now Rosberg is catching him, they reckon he'll come out behind Lewis as well now. Rosberg about to get a very easy win at the end of the day.

    Max Verstappen is very angry.

Not going to lie, felt a bit relieved when Seba slid off there.

Looked to me like Gutierrez drifted left. It's so hard to assign blame in things like that, though. First thing out of Gutierrez's mouth on the radio was to ask about Alonso and he walked straight over to him once he got out of the car. Pretty classy.
