We're not going to space colonies before nation states are replaced by corporate oligarchy.

    Belgium. Totally.

(Actually, I don't think any nation will start a space colony because I don't believe in "outer space.")

Those are two different concepts, one is a sovereign geographical area the other is a power structure. The latter doesn't replace the former.

    Great question.

Considering there is a new report out that NASA believes it will take only $10 billion to secure a moon base (set up, not maintenance) I think a lot more countries will come to the table. Especially if you consider that private investment could supplant a large portion of the cost.

(let me find report - one sec)

How do you not believe in outer space o.o?

I'm not sure when or if it will happen, but I'd assume the US, maybe a country from the EU?

I'm betting U.S. because resources and military competition with China/Russia. Plus, the Moon is a stepping stone to Mars and Asteroid mining.

(can't find that fucking article I saw just today - will post when I do)

I just think that "outer space" as it's commonly thought of doesn't exist.

I also think that if any nation was going to create a "space colony" it would have been the US since, supposedly, NASA landed on the moon waaaaay back in 1969.

Ah, ok - you're nuts. Now your comments on the other thread make sense.

Article on Moonbase link. Great links in the article to more substantial info on how/where/when Moonbase.

All the nations then we can have giant robot fights to determine who rules the solar system.

I'm not sure entirely what you mean. We know for a fact there's other planets, the sun, etc, and those are all in space.

Do you mean you think it's impossible for us to ever actually go out there?

    This idea wins.

From your posts so far I'm blown away that you consider what you're doing thinking.

You can literally see them? The sun being the most obvious, while we know the earth revolves around the sun, why we have different seasons, etc. Things that anyone can observe and understand to be true, even if you don't happen to believe things like the moon landing as actually happening.

I feel I should point out that I merely said that I don't think outer space, as it's commonly thought of, exists. I didn't say anything about stars and the moon and the sun and planets. Just outer space as it's commonly thought of.
