... over a satiric music video that aired on the NDR a couple of days ago.
Tuesday, Martin Erdman, german ambassador to Turkey, was formally summoned to the ministry of foreign affairs, to answer for the showing of a music video with the title Erdowie, Erdowo, Erdogan, a spoof on Nena's Song "Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann" (Somehow, somewhere, sometime).
The lyrics read, among other harsh criticisms, "Er lebt auf großem Fuß, der Protz vom Bosporus" (He lives at large, the swank of Bosporus), referencing Erdogan's 1000 room palace built without permit in a reservation, and "Ein Journalist, der irgendwas verfasst, was Erdogan nicht passt, ist morgen schon im Knast" - A Journalist who writes a piece, to which Erdogan doesn't agree, will be imprisoned by tomorrow. Other articles of the Song attack his stance on womens rights and the use of police force, bombings of kurds, and mocking how he's forcing his will on the EU and germans chancelor Angela Merkel. IT compares his manner of speech to Mickey Mouse.
All of this coincides witht the start of the process agains journalists Can Dündar and Erdem Gül. Not only the german ambassador has drawn Erdogans Ire, but also Britains Principal Officer Leigh Turner. Erdogan warned Turner on Sunday that "if this person is to continue their work in Turkey, it's only due to our generosity/gallantry and hospitality."
Dündar and Gül are charged with espionage and selling state secrets after a documentory of the turkish secret service delivering weapons to unnamed islamic extremists in Syria. President Erdogan has personally raised charges, if sentenced they face life in prison. As a result of the criticism of diplomats the public is now excluded from the trial. Erdogan said, towards the critical diplomats, "This is not their country - this is Turkey. Diplomacy is subjected to propriety and manners."

Just another event in a long chain of a small man desireing importance, and the turkish gouvernment fighting the principles of freedom of speech. A summons due to critical satire is highly unusual. Imagine the US ministery of foreign affairs would call in ambassadors everytime someone in the media mocked Trump or Obama. Quiet ridiculous to call in an ambassador towards such a frivolity.
As a result of this, the group that made the satiric video has named Erdogan their employee of the month.
