End of steroids era in baseball.

Do you think that the Steroid Era of baseball has ended? There aren't nearly as many home runs as there were 1989-2007, and the sport is now more defense-oriented.

People have always cheated in baseball and will continue to do so. As drug testing improves and punishments go up people will just become more crafty. Somebody just got banned for a year during spring training, that alone answers your question. Melky Cabrera is a great example of why players will keep trying to cheat. All they need to do is not get caught long enough to get a huge contract that teams are locked into, then if they get popped they still get paid after they sit for the suspension. With how strong the MLB players union continues to be over the MLB teams it is financially to the players benefit to cheat the year prior to a contract season and just hope to not get caught before the payday comes.

If you can use something to gain an advantage and get ahead there will always be someone willing to. If they arn't worried about the long term health effects a suspension or two won't makea difference either. For some taking stuff can mean the difference between making it or not.

PEDs are popular in every sport. Think there's a highly competitive sport where they aren't utilized? Think again. They will always be around, and the best results will be catered to those with the best doctors and ability to circumvent traditional drug testing methods. It's all part of the game (no pun intended).

It's gonna heat back up again eventually people will use genetic engineering to do the same thing as steroids only better.
