How I Handled The Kid That Stole Cookies.

I know this is unrelated to Warcraft or any other video game, i just figured i'd share with you guys to get your opinion. I seriously want to know if you think I handled this well, or could have done better.

So I was sitting in Lunch at school today, and saw a kid having fun with his friends at his table, but noticed him turning around to the snack stand right behind him... he was eye balling the cookies. Now the school cookies are only 50 cents, but little Timmy over here (I dont know his name, lets call him Timmy) decides it would be cool to turn around and steal a cookie without the lunch lady seeing. But I saw. He proceeded to laugh with his friends, taking a cookie as one fell to the floor as well. He kept looking past his friend at another table, then ran to another table. It clicked to me... He is trying to impress a girl. Now Timmy was a freshman and I was a junior. Don't think the next thing I did, I did to take advantage of him, to make fun of him, or only because he was younger... Timmy was actually taller then me. Like, a lot taller. But I walk over. "Hey, ha that was funny what you did huh?" I said.
"Yeah hah, wasn't it?" He said looking at the girl.
I wipe the smile off my face, looking at the girl and said,
"I didn't think it was funny."

Ironically, his smile left his face too :O.
"What makes you think you can steal cookies? You think your better than anyone else here you can get them for free? Ill tell you tight now, my mom had to file for me to get free lunch cus' she is a single mom. Thats a privilege, not a right. Now this can go one of 2 ways. Get up, tell the lunch lady what you did, pay for not just that cookie, but this one that fell... OR I pay for the cookies (and he smiled here looking puzzled) and have the principal deal with it"
"Ohh.. you know what man you're right I'm sorry, Ill wait til' the line dies down and ill g-"
"Nuhnuhnuhnuh No... You are going to pay for that now, follow me."
I get the attention of the lunch lady and said, " Excuse me miss, this kid has something he needs to tell you."
Now he looked at me... And I looked at him.. And he looked at me..
" I'm sorry, but I was really hungry, and didn't want to wait in line soo-"
" Oh hell no, Tell her what really happened." As I look at the girl.
" I was trying to impress her, and stole these cookies. Here is a dollar. I'm sorry."
The lunch lady was surprisingly heated at the boy, but I did what I did because I hate stuff like that.


Later the boy walked up to me and asked me for my name.
"Why do you need my name?" I asked.
"Im curious, you're obviously a good guy."
"Troy."
" Alright, listen I'm sorry Troy, I respect that what you did."
" You respect that? Im glad you apologized to her, you don't need to apologize to me, but you respect that? You respect the fact that I had the genitalia to walk over to you, stop eating my lunch, and make you do something I think we both know you wouldn't have done unless I told you too? Don't tell me your name, just remember today, and don't do stupid sh*t like that again."

I'm sure someone may have a different opinion, but was I wrong for what I did?
