Far too many times, when there is only 1 tab open, I've unintentionally closed Chrome with the tab-close shortcut (Ctrl-W), is there any way to set Chrome so that closing the last tab doesn't close the browser?

you can just reopen it with Crtl + Shift + T
Not sure about remapping the shortcut though.

CTRL-W should close a single tab unless you keep holding it down.
CTRL-SHIFT-W does the exact same as ALT-F4, it closes the browser.
CTRL-SHIFT-T opens the last tab(s) that you closed, meaning it opens the last one if you just closed one tab, or all of them if you closed the browser.
You may be able to remap it with: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...pfkffcejoljijf
Otherwise you'll have to learn to not fat finger ctrl and shift.
edit: for closing the last tab and not closing the browser, try: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...jndjnhba?hl=en
when you say "close the browser" do you mean "it closes the chrome window that had the tab I just closed since it was the only tab left in that window" or "it completely closes chrome full stop so there is no chrome.exe left in my task manager"? big difference. its your fault you arent specific enough.
I think OP means he wants to close his current tab, even if it's the last tab, without closing the browser entirely - sending it to a home page for example.
Assuming I'm right, then either:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...jndjnhba?hl=en
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...dllffcijjeenkj
One of those should work I hope.
