Happy Victory day to my fellow Ex-USSR brothers for defeating the fascist Germany and ending the war.

something like that, yes.
To make this a bit clearer for others.
We all should remember the end of WWII and the surrender of the Nazi regime, and honor those who died in those times.
But certainly not with the glorification of another regime - involved in said war - that topped the atrocities committed by Hitler.
"The pen is mightier than the sword.. and considerably easier to write with."
That the Soviet Union contributed the most troops and pinned down most the Germans is beyond doubt.
However, Stalin contributed a lot to his own predicament .
Thank you to all the veterans in the east

Russia beat Germany. America wasn't even a factor.
Tell me Cybran, who had the brilliant idea to ally with the Germans to wipe out any buffer state between them and Germany ?
BTW, if the Soviets took 95% of the casualties, that might have something to do with Comrade Joseph moronic initial troop dispositions and the utter lack of concern toward casualties in the Red Army even late in the war (FFS, pilots in the VVS as late as 1943 got less flight training than Japanese ''special attack units'')

Thank you for playing the Stalin Organ!
During my life, I have never seen Stalin's name mentioned in the context of the 9th of May celebrations. This day stands for the heroic deed of our people and their bravery in the face of aversity that brought us closer together than ever before, brought out the best in many (and brought out the worst in some) and the shining triumph that was paid for in blood and great sacrifice. We honor the fallen. We must not let the history be repeated.
The World War II took a very heavy toll on our people. There is no family, no bloodline that has not been touched in some way or the other - and the scars left by this conflict run so deep they became a part of our cultural identity. Songs and books were written, movies were made, and the tales of horror, loss and heroism told by those who are 90+ are still heard by those who are not.
May 9 stands for many things. I am not saying the current government isn't trying to capitalize on it to further the patriotic frenzy, but for many of us, the feelings are genuine.
В предчувствии движения племен,
Разломов тверди и кончины мира
Пою не то, о чем мечтает лира,
А имена теней и тень имен.
You have to remember, though, that the victorious Soviets decided to continue their unprovoked hostilities towards Finland they had started a couple years earlier in the Winter War just a few days after Germany launched Operation Barbarossa, and thus began the Continuation War. Just imagine if Stalin would've had the sense not to try to invade Finland (again) while he was waging war against Hitler. Maybe things would've gone even better for the Soviets.
Finland got "offered" back a part of it's sovereign land mass, which the Soviet Union originally stole by the way of a completely unprovoked invasion? How gracious of them. Also, Finland could have taken part in the Siege of Leningrad, but didn't. Why? Because the bad guy in those wars was the Soviet Union, not Finland.
I'm not saying the Soviets didn't beat Hitler, because they certainly did, but they did it basically while being an invading force themselves at the same time. So, while "celebrating" this day, one might want to remember that.
