Selfies are out of control

I've been to 4 countries in the last few weeks and the number of people taking selfies is just ridiculous.

You can't go anywhere, especially tourist sites without it being ruined by all the selfies. Even worse is the selfie stick.

It's like people aren't even enjoying the actual moment of being where they are but are only focused of a good photo to post on instagram.

What a sad state of affairs.

Last time I traveled internationally was back in 2001, before the selfie craze hit, and the only real difference is that everyone had cameras, rather than phones, and got friends to snap pictures of them. Tourist sites were still chock-full of people taking pictures of themselves.

I don't know, i'm in constant amusement over how he feels that this superficial, irrelevant topics are actually note worthy. It really is a marvel to witness.

You have to admit though the intent is different. A family in the 90s might snap a photo for their album of memories whilst nowadays people do it for internet points and praise given by strangers.

Tough shit. Go find a deserted island if you want the perfect moment undisturbed by other people. Till then, you just have to accept that there are things in this world which you don't like. And just cause you don't like it, doesn't make it note worthy for a public discussion.

How dare they be at tourist sites taking pictures of themselves at said tourist site to remember the trip by later.
They should just go to the place, take no pictures, purchase no memorabilia, and have only their recollection of what transpired there.

Who cares? If they want to sit around and post pictures to instagram or whatever the hell they use, it's their loss, not yours.

Is it even a loss? It takes all of 2 seconds to take a selfie and then they are back to doing whatever else it is they were doing.
