Speed dating is obnoxious. I went to a speed dating once by accident. There was an attractive woman there who was interested in me and gave me her number unprompted, but when I called her she never called me back.

The actual process is obnoxious, so I'd say speed dating is best relegated to the days before online dating.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

Find someone you like / have things in common with, talk briefly about what you share in common, ask them to coffee.
To be fair, that's not really how they end up working for men. We have to send about 100 of those "Hey, wanna go to coffee?" messages for every 1 actual response we get, which still has a pretty decent chance of being "No".

Maybe I'm just pretty, but that's not been my experience - I've more often than not garnered a response from messages I've sent.

Yeah, I would definitely say that isn't typical (in my experience).

I'm not doing anything wrong lol. I'm married
It's an absolute fact that the average man has to message more/get less messages than the average woman on a dating site, but that's neither here nor there.

I have before, however, this was before the internet being used for dating was a thing. Internet dating is fascinating to me, but I've never actually done it before.

I'd say dating websites offer the same medium as speed dating. You get a quick glimpse of who they are and you decide to investigate more or move on to the next. It's essentially the same thing except you don't meet in person and you go through more people online faster.

If that's all you're finding, you're doing it wrong. Besides, what's wrong with that even if it is what you find?

Speed dating always appeared too quick. Like, I'm usually shy and observing for awhile before advancing, so speed dating wouldn't work for me. I'd scan the room for the couple of cute ones and eavesdrop on their conversations before it was out turn to interact and then pick up more information on something that caught my ear.

I'd hate having a moose be really into me.

Do you mean an actual moose or is it some kind of slang I don't get?
