    The end of Obamacare...

....and not short enough it was.(Yoda) I guess that is what happens when you have to vote to pass something just to find out what's in it. Called this years ago.

And yes, it is a liberal/regressive news site so no need to hunker down in your safe space. Good thing Trump is going to get elected because he has already given his plan on how to fix the problem which is what we should of done in the first place.

It will only end if the Republicans can maintain control of the Senate and House. Also if Trump is elected. A tall order indeed. I know personally Obumbercare has caused my premiums increases to go up dramatically. Far out pacing inflation. This trend can not continue for a lot of people. Sure millions more have some insurance now than before. But millions others are paying for it and it is mainly the middle class who are. The rich do not care if their premiums triple this year.

My real problem with the law is it forces me to buy something from a third party provider. It's like telling people they must by GM cars or pay a government fine. People would revolt. If you want me to have medical insurance then expand medicare to age 0 and up. And call that my insurance.

Exactly this. Our insurance skyrocketed. It's beyond ridiculous. Not only this issue, but now bathrooms are suddenly an issue with Obama, to the point to where he is threatening schools with federal funding cuts if they don't let the transgender crowd use the bathroom they want... at a fucking school. Is there not other pressing issues that should be dealt with other than threatening schools with federal funding over fucking bathrooms? This guy needs to hurry up and get the fuck out of the white house already.

Isn't car insurance mandatory? I'm also pretty sure the government does limit what cars you can buy/drive, and you do get a fine or worse if you break those rules.

Car insurance is only mandatory if you own a car, you don't have to buy a car. YOU have to buy health insurance. I guess you could end your life and not pay health insurance but that's a bit drastic

If they did that, Obama would have to show how much it costs and admit the real price of Obamacare. If he forces these people into the pools of the insurance companies, he can blame the hikes on THOSE GREEDY INSURANCE COMPANIES. Obamacare was not supported by people on either side of the political spectrum but he still pushed it through with the democrat super majority. His thought was that all they had to do was get it into law, regardless of it's success or not. If it succeeds gg, if it fails, it starts to bring down our system of healthcare meaning the people will HAVE to give someone emergency powers to fix it, and he's hoping it's a democrat at the time to switch it over to single-payer.

As I've gotten older, single-payer has become more positive in my eyes, and I'm typically on the right side of the spectrum... and I have really good benefits as a Senior Engineer for a multi-billion dollar company. Healthcare is too expensive. We need to fix it, and I'm not the one who has an answer for it, but Obamacare is definitely not it.

    No, not in all states.

Universal privatized health care isn't feasible. It assumes health insurance companies would be able to turn a profit, and find ways to drive prices down through competition. It doesn't work that way. It means people who cost more to insure are paying the same price as people who very rarely use insurance. It drives the rates skyward quickly.
    There are few acceptable choices.
Single payer. Government takes over, insurance becomes a matter of federal tax rate. Health insurance becomes 0% profitable and that market crashes.
Guaranteed health care. Everyone gets "free" health care. The government forces regulations upon insurance companies, forcing them to restructure and rebuild, becoming dangerously unprofitable. The government would set the maximum profit threshold and taxes would cover any deficit. Rates would rise across the board, constantly.
Especially since hospital supplies and pharmaceuticals have astronomical markups that keep increasing in order to maintain sustained increased future profitability margins. In other words. Unless someone passes laws regulating the markups of pharma, medical equipment, and medical supplies...we will see nothing but increased costs everywhere.

I'm not saying general health care is a bad thing. I'm saying a purely capitalist market with little to no regulation undermines any efforts we put out.
Quite often, the difference between an idiot and a genius is simply a matter of success rate.

In Ohio, Kasich optioned for the expanded Medicare. Which means if you make less than about 25,000 per year as a couple, you would qualify for it. After 3 years however, the state has to start paying for the extra care I think. And can you imagine as a couple trying to survive on 25,000 per year? Most of those are already getting some type of assistance from food stamps and government housing or such.

I think it was the right decision on the part of Kasich. But it is still not what is needed for health care raising costs and coverage. I support a national health care system which makes it so every single American has coverage and the costs are shared by everyone proportionally and the costs of health care is controlled. Sadly we will never see that in this country. It is something where the profits from medical care now is too large. This sounds like socialism I know. Which is not a totally bad concept. And no, I do not support Bernie.

Only if you drive a car.

The states that don't require insurance require you to have the money to pay for damages, either through bond or by paying an uninsured motorist fee to the state.
It's damn near the same thing. You own a car. You pay.

There's nothing in the law that forces you to buy health insurance.
