After hearing that, I booked myself into the Oxford Sleep Clinic in the UK and spent a night there all wired up with cameras and monitors on. When my results came back it showed that I had stopped breathing 9 times in 5 hours for very short periods and this confirmed I had mild sleep apnoea. In my follow up appointment, the specialist examined my throat against a series of examples and explained that my snoring is hereditary... it would make sense as both my parents are prolific snorers and my old man wears a CPAP machine.

For the record I am not overweight and do not smoke but I have a tall, muscular frame and play a lot of rugby.

Weight, apparently, only affects your snoring if it is at the stage where it interferes with the inside of your throat. It seems snoring has a lot to do with your genetics.
    Presumably this was done privately.

The cost of the sleep study?

No actually my local doctor recommended I book an appointment after a consultation. Didn't pay a penny. Three cheers for the NHS.
