Why are people so pessimistic about the movie?

The movie doesn't seem like it'll be particularly bad. Even if it's not a big box office hit, I doubt it'll bomb in the box office.

The CG for the orcs isn't bad, I mean I've seen horrible CG and this is not bad CGI.

I'm more critical of the humans. Travis Fimmel seems to be doing a good job. Medivh looks decent. However, I'm way more sceptical of the other actors.

the few scenes we've seen the magic looks really corny, and the CG doesn't flow nicely between character & world. Like it doesn't fit. you know in photoshop where their is layers. its like that but poorly fitted.

The CG looks great. I can agree with you on the magic though.

I've been waiting for a WoW movie all my life, admittingly I'd much prefer the Lich King storyline but I understand them wanting to start from the beginning. The reason I am being pessimistic is simply because of game based movies doesn't really have that high success ratio, and I really believe that the fall-height this movie has is tremendous. I can really see this movie going both ways, turning into a massive hit aswell as flopping completely. As a gamer I have really high expectations to the movie aswell, unrealistically high. I expect to see classic iconic abilities, being able to tell whom is whom, and who is what class. I expect Top Notch Grand CGI. I would want the movie to be darker then what it seems to be from the trailers. I'm crossing my fingers it will turn into the 2016 version of Lords of the rings, i'm crossing my fingers it will blow past LotR. I'm crossing my fingers the WoW movie will make it into a trilogy or more. I'm expecting it to litterally alter my mind. I'm sitting here hoping I will get massively struck with any combination of mental issues when I grow old, alzheimers, you name it, so that I will live inside my own little WoW bubble and be whatever class I want

This criticism is constructive and fair. I'm talking about the people who post things like "This CGI is crap" and blah, blah, blah.

I'm really nervous about this movie too. However, after seeing that footage of Durotan and Orgrim, I gained at least 40% confidence in this film (at least the Horde parts).

Hopefully by the third or fourth film we'll see WC3-Vanilla aspects we all know and love. The Scourge, Jaina Proudmoore, Tauren, Night Elves, Goblins, Pandas (fingers crossed for Chen to appear) and the trolls.

There is already several movie topics about this.

The trailers were not so good. Music was DubStep. Awful advertising.

Movie itself looks bland. WC1 & WC2 plot involved lots of fighting, mixed with rescuing people, escorts, and heavy defense / offense. Plot themes were to add new races / classes to the mix, for a more complex game.

How can this translate into a movie? Not easily. Will Blizzard do it? Uhhh .....Uhhh.... Not with a movie full of fighting, which trailers showed.

The second trailer sucked. The clips they released hyped me up for the film.

At first I thought (due to the teaser trailers, mainly the one with the elfs and such sitting infront of the king of stormwind) it would look terrible, then having watched the leaked four scenes I was quite impressed and have now becoming excited for it removing any past thought of ill towards the cgi/movie.

I concur. It looks exactly like the game so corny it is. They should have made it like LOTR.

The effects look really cheesy and the lines are goofy. I can't blame anyone for being pessimistic because it looks like it's not going to be very good.

But from what I've seen, I think it'll be more of a "for the fans" type of thing, and it will also be laughably cheesy to the extent of enjoyment. I'm excited for it in the same way someone might be excited for something like Sharknado.

The previews look like an extremely high budget entry to a highschool film competition.
Soothing Mist:"Healing them for a minor amount every 0.5 sec, until you take any other action."
Jade Serpent Statue: "The statue will also begin casting Soothing Mist on your target. healing for 50% as much as yours. "
    [What's half of minor?]
"Statue casts Soothing Mist at a nearby ally for toddler healing."

You're not serious, are you? I legit thought the dialogue between Durotan and Orgrim felt organic.

Also, the CG looks Dawn of the Planet of the Apes quality.

Pessimists get to pick things apart easily, early.

Optimists are waiting to see the story, end results.
Not enough content? Change you dislike?
Unsub or sub later. Give Blizzard feedback, "vote" with money.
Give feedback through official channels → quit paying.

If that guys says it looks cheesy, you better believe it. He has a "internet degree" in all things cheesy.

I don't think they are pessimist. They will only watch this movie if they can download it illegally. With that mindset and this being MMOC, they have nothing to lose.

Because the trailers are rather bad
Armors look like toys and always remain clean, the same goes with weapons
The CGI feels cheap from time to time
Spells look like a child made it on photoshop

    That's a fair opinion.
That's kind of a silly one (expert opinions advised this, so yours is probably "wrong").
Incredibly expensive CGI, but at least a fair opinion.
Again, experts of their craft, paid very well (you're probably "wrong").

Good example of how "pessimists pick apart"

It's clear you are a fan, you posted so many times to defend the movie, here and there.

The folks involved keep mentioning this as a LOTR film. Are they on drugs, or really optimistic? JRR Tolkien was a genius. Movie writers could only hope to gleam Tolkiens fame. Disgusting they would use Tolkiens fame to generate some dollars for an unproven flick.

Because most video game based movies never tend to do well. Only one I know of is Resident Evil.
