Yeah, sounds like a good punishment. Open a new realm for the banwave (all 50k or whatever the number is - for massive queues) for them without Crossrealm stuff. After the 6 months they get re-transferred to their old realm with 0 gold and loose all their items they gained the last 6 months (completely erased, so the items may not be part of the new transmog system).

That's pretty damn permanent. Most move on after 1.5 years if they don't end up buying a new account.

permanent is a synonym of forever.

1.5 years is not forever.

There might be some that like to do it from time to time, when in a queue for example. I do it now and then to slowly (very slowly) work my way towards the 2nd waterstrider mount. I can't say I get any enjoyment out of it, but I wouldn't use a bot for it. I also see no reason why a fishing bot would need to be punished less than a leveling or gold farming bot. If you want fish you get it yourself or you buy it from other people.

It's not nearly as bad on EU as it is on US, but there's quite a few well known ones and they've mostly been banned in this wave.
