4k monitor

It's finally time. With the 1080 now out I want to finally upgrade my machine to be able to handle 4k gaming. I plan on getting the 1080 soon, but I have no idea what monitor to get. I don't really understand the difference between a $400 4k monitor and a $600 one of the same size. Could someone please educate me and give me some suggestions on a good monitor to run with the 1080 for 4k gaming?

I'd wait for DCI-P3 and HDR monitors. The differences are tied to image quality and build quality, resolution in itself doesn't tell you anything other than the number of pixels.
