Gotta love it when a cover is better than the original.

So listening to radioactive I've decided that the cover that lindsey stirling did with pantatonix is way better than the original by imagine dragons. I always love it when a cover sounds better than the original. I also love when Weird Al's music is better than the original songs he's doing parodies of.

I absolutely despise that song, but I was kind of digging the cover.

And agreed, Lindsey/Pentatonix version is amazing, the original... Eh, it's ok.

I thought Johnny Cash's cover of hurt was better than the original by Nine Inch Nails.

Not necessarily better, but one of the better covers that comes to mind is Death's cover of Judas Priest's Painkiller. Different take on the song, can't really improve what is already a perfect song tbh.

    Original:

If i recall Trent Reznor/NiN said the song belonged to Cash after hearing his cover.

I think the Smashing Pumpkins version of Landslide is better than the Fleetwood Mac version, but that may just be because I'm a kid of the 90s.

The cover was better and I didn't like all the pauses in the original. Didn't like the original video either.

Amen to that. Same goes for Painkiller by Judas Priest - without the real high pitch screams the song is missing something.

the only good cover ever made imho is Hurt by Johnny Awsomeness Cash!

You are aware that Whiskey In The Jar is an Irish folk song right? And Metallica's version is crap.

Most cover songs are also worse than the originals. Few are actually flat out better than their originals. George Harrison's While My Guitar Gently Weeps was done by the late great Jeff Healey, and when the original writer of the song says that your version is better, and it happens to be one of the fucking members of The Beatles, that means something. And well, there isn't a cover better than Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, and the original is god damn incredible in it's own right. Johnny Cash gets mad respect for his cover of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, he made that song so much more raw.

I've quite enjoyed Postmodern Jukebox, who tend to cover pop songs (and some others) in an older musical style.

Some groups hit it out of the park with covers, and then there's this, which hit it off the planet.
