[Anime] Food Wars or Shokugeki no Soma

If you've never watch an anime series or you haven't watched an anime series in ages and would like to dip your toe back into the genre, Food Wars just might be your thing.

To make it even better it's free to stream on hulu and cruncyroll I think.

It's one of those fight shows where you have a kid who's good at fighting and can beat almost everyone except for his dad of course cause his dad trained him how to fight since he was a kid. Yes like many of these shonen shows Food Wars is packed with your favorite Anime cliches and tropes.

So why watch this show if it's like all the others? It's not like all the others, it's pretty well done, the art and character designs are amazing.



Oh yeah, it's not about fighting, it's about cooking and food. The fights are done as "cook offs" like Iron Chef where two cooks go against each other and a panel of judges determines the winner.

Another thing is that the art was done by this guy who used to do porn anime or hentai as some call it and man does it show through. If you think about it there are a lot of parallels between good food and porn, the way some people moan when they eat something good, etc. The food in this show is so good that it can knock the clothes right off of someone.

There's no nipples or pubes though, so its mostly pg13.

Not the show to watch if you're dieting. Yes the 2 dimensional food made me hungry at times.

The best character isn't the main character, main characters usually don't lose, it's the girl in the image, not the American flag bikini girl but the one on the left. She's a second tier character. She comes from a humble village and gets into the prestigious school but having no confidence she struggles a lot. I found myself rooting more for her than the main guy. And second tier characters often lose in these shows.

If you want something fun to watch, kill about 12 hours, this is the show for you.

Great series. Not watched the anime yet but the manga is awesome.

Being a huge fan of cooking shows, this seemed like the perfect series for me. I was not wrong.
