If you're standing stock still with perfect acoustics in the venue, perhaps. Celine Dion springs to mind. She's about as entertaining as a record player. But she replicates performances like a machine. I'll grant her that.

It sounds different. But there are singers who sound live the same or better as in the studio (like Elton John, Gary Brooker or Tracy Chapman). Adele is definitely not one of them. She sounds really bad live. Though that doesn't automatically imply that her voice is manipulated in the studio version.

You do know that producers dont do much at all besides foot the bill for the recording equipment and production. They are just money. Audio engineers do all the recording work. Anyone with lots of money can be a producer.
