Geralt of Rivia. They did some amazing dialogue and VA for that character.

He dies, only to disagree with the choice that he goes to hell. He claws his way through the seven realms of unimaginable horror to get to where he believes he should be. Heaven. Oh, and he also knitted a red crusade cross into his chest. For... reasons.

Sorry, but you guys are all wrong.
The most badass protagonist is the dude from Katamari Damacy. He pushes a ball around that grows big enough to eat the solar system, I would like to see your "Big Boss" "Kratos" or "Samus" do that.
