Does putting the helmet on make you the Lich King?

    Hi.

So in all the story of how Arthas becomes corrupted then becomes the Lich king.

What makes this happen? who is it that corrupts Arthas because he is the lich king so its not like the lich king convinced arthas to become the lich king?

Also it would appear from the end WOTLK cutscene that just putting the helmet on makes you the lich king?

Can anyone clear this up please?

The helmet (helm of domination) allows the wearer to control the mindless undead.

Lich King is just the title for the controller.

-By willingly taking up the cursed runeblade of Frostmourne, Arthas sacrificed his soul.
-His sanity was lost during his trek through Northrend by the whispers of Ner'zhul through the blade to him.
-He merged with Ner'zhul and became the Lich King when he placed the helm upon his head (although Blizzard has since retconned and said a small sliver of Arthas Menethil still existed within the Lich King, which was what kept him from unleashing the full might of the Scourge in one swoop and destroying Azeroth entirely)

    Hope that clears it up

I'm still don't understand people who says Arthas was evil as Lich King. When Arthas picked cursed blade - hes gone for good. DK Arthas is just twisted parody. And Lich King Arthas is completely new person.

he was the same insane guy as always.
picking up frostmourne, putting the helm of domination on, killing ner'zhul and his humanity, cutting his own heart out and turn undead made him just more insane and power hungry.

Arthas turned bad before he picked up Frostmourne.

Here is a random theory. Since Ner'zhul possessed the helmet and when arthas put the helmet on. He killed Ner'zhul and his humanity/innocence.
PLUS Frostmourne destroyed Arthas's soul which would technically means there was no soul to re-possess the helmet upon the death of Arthas.

This would point that the helmet is so much less powerful than it used to be. It is still a very powerful piece since it can control the undead. But this points in the direction that anyone can wear it now while keeping their humanity. Becoming power hungry with it is still possible though obviously.

I mean unless I am wrong. This very well means that the undead could be used for the benefit of "good" with it. Such as control the undead hordes to attack the legion?
