Cool Is there any chance that Roll the Bones will be changed soon?

I am absolutely loving Outlaw Rogue on PTR. However, the way that Roll the Bones works in its current form is a huge negative for me.

    Let's look at the buffs:

    • Jolly Roger 3%HP/s
    • Grand Melee +%AttackSpeed
    • Shark Infested Waters +%Crit
    • True Bearing Cool down reductions on using finishers
    • Buried Treasure +% base energy regen
    • Broadside +1CP generation

Getting one of these at random is okay. It requires that Outlaw players pay attention to what they roll and respond accordingly, in some cases even re-rolling to get something better for the current situation. My biggest problem is that Roll the Bones can proc four, five, or even all six different buffs resulting in some serious RNG, to a point where it's unwieldy.

I haven't seen any response by Blizzard on the matter. Do you think that there's a chance that the ability will be changed before the pre-expansion patch goes live?

If you think roll the bones is a huge negative, there is no way you are loving outlaw, because that ability is the whole point of the spec (unless you go for SnD talent, which makes it bearable).

But at this point I find it extremely unlikely there will be large changes to it, making outlaw suck ass basically.

I like Roll the Bones, but I don't like that you can get multiple buffs at the same time.

I can't see roll the bones changing any time soon. Maybe some rebalances to the buffs, but that's about it. The RNG of roll the bones is the worst part of Outlaw, but also the only interesting aspect of the spec right now.

Also, because of the way the dice work the only combinations off buffs you can get are 1, 2, 3 or 6 buffs. The real issue is on the low end of rolling Jolly Roger and not getting DPS or having one buff be too good and force re rolling (true bearing). I think the chance of getting all 6 is like 1-2% and not really worth rolling for over and over. Constantly getting jolly roger during a crucial point in PvE will be awful and I'm sure all the top DPS charts for Outlaw will be decided by RNG more than skill. I feel like SnD might be a good choice for consistency, but it's also so boring.

That said, I actually REALLY like the idea of getting random buffs that change your play style a little bit, but that's not really the case and it's just RNG DPS.

Completely untrue. I'm on the PTR right now and I just got 4 buffs on my first roll.

The general consensus currently is that True Bearing should be weaker and base line as it is now basically. In it's current state it's almost too good, especially if you get multiple buffs. Then suddenly you can just Adrenalin Rush > MfD > Finisher > builder > builder > finisher until you reset the cool down on mark and Adrenalin Rush. You basically can't run out of energy at this point.

Six buff Roll the Bones proc in the Final Boss Outlaw video, lol. Looks like it'd be insanely fun, but I also don't like the drastic level of RNG that something like this will introduce.

Literally impossible. There is mathematically no way that 6d6 can generate 4 faces that tie each other for which came up most.

LOL there is a million different ways they could have implemented it. Are you a Blizzard coder?

I've known how it has worked for a while now, and I just updated my post explaining it for you. You all should check it out.

I think if they changed Slice and Dice talent to make Roll the Bones less frustrating, preferably someting like:

    Slice and Dice Talent:
Roll the Bones now always guarantees atleast 2 buffs.
With Grand Melee attack speed bonus always being one of them.

This way, you're not completely screwed by Jolly Roger and also eliminating one of the buffs from your lucky roll list.
There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want

Yea... I just saw it on the front page, didn't read it before posting this.

Still, Slice and Dice makes Outlaw the most boring spec in the game, they should really change it.

I'm happy that I'd probably play Assassination in Legion, Outlaw seems too much RNG based with Roll the Bones.

I can see how it has the potential to be very frustrating in ranked pvp or a progression raid environment when you really need a good roll and instead get a bad one, or roll a really amazing roll right as a phase mechanic forces you to stop DPS or something like that.

But god is it a fun ability in solo play.

It adds so much variation to playing outlaw, since your rotation and effectiveness completely changes based on what you end up getting.
A lot of people aren't fans of RNG, but I love it, and it's not like there aren't talents or the other specs or a different class if you really want consistent dependable numbers.

I think Outlaw has the potential to be a great spec, with the main skill point being your ability to adapt based on your procs.

However, much like Surrender to Madness from Shadow Priests, i feel like theres a high probability of cheese with stuff like this.
Getting a 6 buff roll amplifies your damage so much it can determine the outcome of an encounter significantly.

Honestly, the RNG nature of Roll the Bones isn't that big of a deal, but the pendulum swings to the extreme when you compare 1 buff vs 6 buffs.
With such extremes, your DPS is determined purely by luck and no amount of skill can overcome it.

atleast the rng is eazed now with all 6 buffs being offensive boosts. single buff rolls will probably just be used to get a big pandemic boost on the next roll, instead of fishing.

If I have to be honest, that ability looks kinda like Deathbringer's Will.
